Note from our Principals
Hello Waubesa Families,
Yesterday marked the end of the first semester, which means report cards will be accessible next week. We’ll send a message to you early next week informing you that report cards are available to view and include directions to access them in Infinite Campus.
This time of year is very busy as we begin planning for the 2024-25 school year. In the coming weeks, we’ll be sending our annual placement communication. This provides families an opportunity to provide feedback about their child to help us in the classroom placement process as we develop class lists for the upcoming school year. More information to come.
We wanted to provide you with a curriculum update for the 2023-24 school year. This year at Waubesa we are implementing a new word study program, 95 Phonics Core. This instruction includes phonological awareness (sounds), phonics (relationship between sounds and letters) and morphology (meaningful part of words). Students also apply this learning through reading, vocabulary, comprehension and response to reading activities. Check out instruction samples in the image below. Be on the lookout for future communication of more detailed grade level ELA (English Language Arts) unit overview of Reading, Writing and Word Study.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
All the best!

Winter Weather Recess Guidelines
As a reminder please make sure your students have proper gear for outside. This would include but not limited to a coat, boots, mittens, hat, etc. It is suggested to have a back up pair of socks and/or shoes in their cubby if needed. An additional pair of pants could also be helpful if needed. The office can not provide gear or additional clothes for students who occasionally forget the essential items or dirty them during recess. If you are in need of gear for winter please email Emily Gierl our School Social Worker at Gierle@mcfsd.org.

Worth Repeating
Updates to Attendance Reporting:
- 8:00-8:05 am- student is not marked absent or tardy, "free pass"
- 8:05-8:25 am- student is marked tardy excused or tardy unexcused
- 8:25 am- student will be marked according to their reason for absence, ex:) parent request, ill, medical, etc. Without parent/guardian communication the student will be marked unexcused.
Arrival times:
- We have made the decision to keep the main doors of the school closed until 7:20 am. Prior to this we opened them at 7:00 am. This change is being made due to behavior issues in the vestibule. Breakfast will continue to be served at 7:25. Please contact the office if you have any concerns. Thank you for understanding.
Departure:
- Supervision for students will end at 3:15pm. If a student is still on school grounds without transportation home the office staff will begin calling the student's emergency contacts.
