BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT PVE
There have been many questions about birthdays and birthday treats. At PVE, we love celebrating our students but will ask that you follow the plan we have set.
- NO FOOD will be distributed. Due to the National Health Policy, COVID, allergies, and other health issues, we will not be accepting food items (Please know we will turn those away if they do come to the building.)
- Pencils and erasers are always needed, used, and loved by students
- Think about donating a book or game in your child's honor to the classroom this year
- Reverse the birthday celebration and have the student recognize their peers with notes of thanks
Our teachers will make your child feel special on their day. And for those students who have summer birthdays, we will also recognize them. Your child's teacher will share how that will happen in their room.
Thank you for supporting this policy at PVE!
FROM THE COUNSELOR
FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
DENTAL CLEANING
As the new year begins, we are excited to offer Pleasant View students an option for dental cleaning services. West Ada School District and the Family Medical Residency of Idaho have teamed together to open a pediatric dental clinic serving children in the West Ada School District that do not have Medicaid or private dental insurance. The clinic is located on the Meridian Elementary School Campus. It offers no cost dental cleaning to qualifying students.
On February 18, 2022, the Meridian Schools Clinic reserved appointments for Pleasant View students. If your student has no dental insurance and you would like to schedule a no cost cleaning for your child, please contact the Meridian Schools Clinic at 208-514-2527. If you have any questions, please contact me here at school.
HEAD LICE
I just wanted to send out a quick note about head lice. With the current situation regarding COVID I have not seen many cases of head lice. This may be due to the distancing that has taken place over the last year. Now that winter is in full swing, I just want to refresh everyone on prevention and control. I have attached the Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations. There is additional information on the West Ada Homepage-Departments-Health Services that goes over the district policy.
If I am notified of a case in your child's classroom, I will send out a classroom letter to notify you that a case has been reported so you are aware and can monitor your student.
If you have any questions regarding the above, please contact me at school between 9-3 or you can email me at allumbaugh.carrie@westada.org
School Start Times and Tardies
9:00--First bell to move students and open doors
9:05--Clear outside. All doors locked with the exception of the front doors
9:10--Tardy bell and announcements
If your child is not in the classroom at the final 9:10 bell, they are tardy. Please be sure to plan accordingly to get students here timely. Also, if you drop students after 9:05 and the playground is clear, please send your child through the main front doors to the office. This will allow us to capture attendance for any late students so you do not inadvertently receive a call regarding your child being absent after dropping them off.
Cell Phones, Smart Watches, and Gizmos
We often see students receive cell phones, smartwatches, and Gizmos as Christmas gifts during this time. We just wanted to take a moment to review the expectations of these devices and their use while at school.
Cell phones are to be off and in backpacks. Students may not use them while on the school campus, beginning at drop off and ending when picked up. If the device allows, watches need to be silenced or on a school mode. These may remain on their wrist as long as they can be utilized as a tool and not a toy, meaning they are not used during the school day, nor should students play with the item.
If a student needs to contact a parent, a staff member or student will use a classroom or office phone. Students should not contact parents on their devices during the school day or receive calls from family members. Don't hesitate to contact the front office if you need to have a message sent to your student before the end of the day, preferably before 3:15.
I know safety and communication with your children are essential, and we value and respect this. We ask that you make sure to work with your children about the school expectations with these devices.
If the items are not used correctly or become a distraction, the item will remain with an adult until the end of the day. If the problem persists, the item will be turned into Mrs. Senethavilay, and she will call to have a parent pick up the device.
Thank you for understanding and working with us as we continue to maintain privacy for all and limit interruptions to the learning environment.
