Engineering Students spend time at Lawrence Tech
Our engineering students just had an unforgettable experience at Lawrence Tech! Our journey led us to explore cutting-edge facilities and immerse ourselves in the world of engineering possibilities. From state-of-the-art labs to inspiring conversations with industry experts, every moment was filled with learning and discovery. Our students produced a newscast, investigated the use of concrete in Civil Engineering, and explored the Robotics lab. Massive thanks to Lawrence Tech for hosting us and empowering the next generation of engineers! Ms. Barnard continuously encourages our students to grow and learn.
Construction II-Open House is Approaching
Work on the house that the Construction Tech II students are actively working on is progressing wonderfully. As May approaches and they prepare for their annual Open House on May 16. We are very proud of the hard work that is going into the house and are excited to share the progress. Thank you to Mr. Wood, Mr. Kelemen, and all of the City of Westland individuals who are guiding our students along this pathway. #edpathwaystosuccess #fordctc

Firefighters Prepare for State Certification
Learning to Handle Hazardous Materials
This past week at Wayne County Community College-Downriver our firefighter students are getting ready to take the state firefighter test. Our students had several training evolutions, and they got to watch a simulated Hazardous Material spill/Decontamination Line. Our fire cadets performed ladder deployment, ventilation, water supply and hose line deployment. They are honing in their skills, and they are almost ready to test.
Our fire cadets have come a long way this year. At the beginning of the year, they knew very little about firefighting. Now, they are polishing up their skills so that they are certified and job ready upon graduation. We are so proud of them. Many thanks to their instructors, Mr. Bunse and Mr. Thompson for continuing to be their driving force.
Embracing Unity at Culture & Diversity Festival-Culinary Program Highlight
Under the culinary guidance of Ms. Corisa Davis and Ms. Brittany Saville, our students embarked on a year-long culinary journey, mastering dishes from around the globe. Their dedication and talent culminated in over 50 exquisite dishes, each eagerly devoured by our guests. In fact, more than 700 students, families, staff and community members united to participate in the inaugural Culture and Diversity Festival. This event featured music, food, presentations and traditions from some of the diverse cultures within our community. Kudos to the Culinary students that supported this experience!
