Hello Challenge I Parents,

We will be having our Parent Orientation on Thursday, July 26th at the McAllen Public Library from 6:30-7:30 pm. Your guides have arrived and I am very excited to get them to you so you can start planning your school year. We will be going over the guide together and talking about what to buy and how to set up your child for the first week that we meet together. I’m looking forward to being the lead learner this year. From what I’ve gathered over the years, the skills that we learn through Christian, classical education will serve us well throughout our lives.

Below are some important dates:

July 20th: Application due

July 20th: Deadline for Semester 1 fees, (this includes tuition $637.50, application $125, lab/supply $50 & facility $125) please submit fee of

$937.50 if you have not paid any prior fees

OR $812.50 if you have paid the application fee

January 5th: Deadline for Semester 2 fees (tuition $637.50)

August 7th: First Day of Seminar & community at First Baptist Church Pharr on 400 West Ridge Road; Time: 9:00 am- 3:30 pm.

As far as summer is concerned, we are taking some time off & enjoying leisure activities. I would recommend reading some of our books from the American Literature strand during the summer. The sign of the Beaver is our first book & a great starting place. The students can also read any of the other books in this strand as it will be a tremendous help during the school year. (Wk2 The Call of the wild, Wk 3 Johny Tremain, Wk 4 The Red Badge of Courage, Wk 5&6 The Scarlet Letter). Also, if you have time, teachers please look at the highlighting method on Classical Conversations Connected-Challenge Level. If you do not have CC Connected, no worries we will discuss this method during the school year. The only other recommendation is to review essay writing by using a writing curriculum like Lost Tools of Writing.
