Cardinal Country News
Kilbourne Middle School
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
KMS Families,
Around this time of year, the “newness” of the school year starts to fade away. Students and staff are falling into their routines. Lockers are opening more easily and lunch codes are memorized. In many ways, that’s a great thing!
It also means there are fewer “get to know you” activities in class and more assignments to complete. Students will notice grades starting to show up in Infinite Campus and there will be more homework in the evenings. Conflicts between students may arise and friendships will go through phases. It is during these more challenging times that our message of work hard and be kind are most important.
Over the course of the year, we will constantly remind students to work hard (by doing their personal best) and be kind (through their words and actions). Your help in reinforcing this message at home goes a long way too!
Have a great weekend!
Greg
Introducing the Cardinal Closet!
The goal of the "Cardinal Closet" is to provide free, gently used Kilbourne clothing items for our current students and their families.
The Cardinal Closet is seeking KMS or Cardinal clothing that you no longer need. Whether it's an old team sweatshirt, a club t-shirt, or any KMS/Cardinal apparel that has been outgrown or is no longer in use, we would be grateful for your contributions. This includes student and parent KMS clothes. (For example, if you have a Band Parent sweatshirt and your son/ daughter is no longer in band or if your child had a KMS t-shirt they have outgrown, all of it would be welcomed.)
Donating is easy! Simply drop off your contributions at the Main Office during regular school hours. We believe the Cardinal Closet will not only provide essential clothing items, but will also strengthen our school spirit and foster a sense of community among students and families.
We appreciate your support in making the Cardinal Closet a success!!!
Coat and Winter Clothing drive
In cooperation with St. Michael's Church, we are again Keeping Worthington Warm. Donate your winter coats, snow pants and hats and gloves to the main office. You can drop items off through October 30th.
Start thinking about WINTER!
Worthington Ski & Board Club will be having their information meeting at WKHS on Thursday, October 3 at 7:30 in the auditorium. If your son/daughter is interested in this club and you want to find out more information, please plan on attending this meeting. Cost, dates, sign-up procedures, rentals, lessons, etc will be discussed at the meeting. Ski & Board Club is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Ask Ms. Bode, Mrs. Williams or Ms. Brown for any more questions!

Sign-Outs
If a student is being picked up for an appointment, an adult listed in their IC contacts must sign them out. The adult must come into the office (entrance off of Hartford by bus lanes) and scan their ID before the student is called out of class. Please call ahead for any other arrangements.
Drop Offs
If a student arrives late or is being dropped off after an appointment, they are allowed to check themselves into the office. An adult does not need to accompany them.
Any other questions, please reach out to Mrs. Thomas in the office!

School Lunch and the Free & Reduced Application
Worthington Schools offers breakfast and lunch to students. Pricing for meals will be based on family eligibility. New Meal Applications are required for families every school year. Families may find the online Free/Reduced Lunch Eligibility Form HERE. All students use their Lunch ID for meals. The student's number can be found in the Parent Portal by selecting the Student ID tab and then look for their student's Lunch PIN.
Families may add money to their lunch account through My Payments Plus. They may also use My Payments Plus to track their student's account and see much money remains on it. My Payments Plus is also used to pay other fees, like high school parking permits and AP testing fees.
Fun Events in our School Community
Come support our KMS Cardinals
See the Fall Sports Schedule below.
All Worthington middle school students are admitted free to home games (any Worthington middle or high school) with their Student ID.
If your child doesn't have their ID yet they have a couple options; they can show last year's ID card, or show an active school schedule.
***This schedule is subject to change.***
Information for events at TWHS
Some reminders to make our home events, please review these expectations for spectators and your student!
To come to Thomas Worthington events, please bring your school ID to gain entrance. We need this to make sure you are a Worthington student! There is no re-entry at TWHS. If you leave an event, you will not be permitted to come back in.
If you attend a game, please do not bring back packs, footballs, soccer balls, food or drink. These items are not permitted.
At our events, you are to sit in the bleachers unless coming or going to the restroom or concession stand. You MAY NOT congregate in open areas. You CAN hang out with your friends in the bleachers.
Keep in mind your behavior is the way you are viewed by others as well as how our school and community are viewed by others. We always want all fans and parents, the visiting team, and the officials to leave TWHS with a positive impression. Please be part of that!
Poor behavior at an event may result in your access to attend events being revoked for a period of time or permanently.
KMS Cell Phone Policy
Phones are not permitted during the school day.
If a student brings a phone to school, they are expected to keep it in their locker. If students have a phone in class, they will be reminded to take it to their locker. If they repeatedly bring a phone to class, they will be asked to take it to the office for the remainder of the day.
