Undocumented Student Action Week
Thank you to everyone for all your support with Undocumented Student Action Week
On behalf of the Dreamers Committee at Los Angeles Harbor College, we thank you for showing your support for Undocumented Student Action Week. We had over 140 participants join us throughout to week to hear from guest speakers, join in a film screening, and learn about their rights when interacting with law and immigration enforcement. We also had 9 Harbor College Staff/Faculty participate in an UndocuAlly Training to better serve undocumented students in their departments. A special Thank You to our partners: APASS, Puente, ASO, CHIRLA, Council member Joe Buscaino's office, and the Toro Dreamers Success Center at CSU Dominguez Hills.
Regardless of immigration status, Los Angeles Harbor College, the Los Angeles Community College District, and the California Community College Chancellor's Office are committed to ensuring equitable access and supports for undocumented students.
If you would like to learn more or have questions about how to get involved, contact Dreamers Counselor, Iván Silva at silvai@lahc.edu.

Meet: Iván Silva, Dream Resource Center Counselor
My name is Iván Silva and I am the Dream Resource Center Counselor at Los Angeles Harbor College. I was born in San Diego but have spent the last several years in the San Francisco Bay Area before relocating to Los Angeles. My parents immigrated to the U.S. at a young age in search of work, my mother from Aguascalientes and my father from Juarez, Mexico. They eventually settled in San Diego where they reside along with my five siblings and thirteen nieces/nephews.
I pursued my education at UC Davis where I earned a B.A. in Sociology and Chicano/a Studies. Being the first in my family to attend college, I often struggled and nearly dropped-out before connecting with an EOP counselor and finding Chicano/a studies. After working a number of years with undocumented students, adults with disabilities, and foster youth, I returned to school and earned a M.S. in Counseling from San Francisco State University. I have spent the last several years advocating for undocumented individuals and building support programs to provide services to students. On my spare time I enjoy rooting for my Dallas Cowboys and cooking meals that come out nothing like the picture in the recipe.
It is the greatest blessing to be part of such an amazing team and I am absolutely humbled to be representing Dreamers at Los Angeles Harbor College. Please stop by The Dream Resource Center to say Hello or connect directly at silvai@lahc.edu.
Sinceramente,
Iván
