A Note from Mrs. Ricard!
Happy New Year to you all! I hope that you had a wonderful holiday and that you enjoyed being with your families! The break went quickly, but it was nice to have some time to unplug and unwind. We look forward to the return on January 3 and to sharing the year 2022 with you all!
As we return, we will be revisiting our COVID protocols since we anticipate returning in high spread with the increase in cases. Our elementary principals group will be meeting on Monday, January 3 to get updates. I will share these updates as soon as possible.
January will be a busy and quick month. Students and staff may choose to wear pajamas on Friday, January 7 for $1 as we continue to raise funds for Relay for Life. We will also be sharing information regarding our efforts to raise funds to support the Special Olympics through the Polar Plunge campaign. We have historically been a leader in the Polar Plunge and look forward to making this year a successful one. Mr. Brendon Matuszek leads this effort and will be sharing more, but we do have an incentive for our students to meet or exceed a school level goal. If our students collect at least $1500, we will have a visit from Abraham the camel. Not only will he visit, but he will also give our administrators a ride!!!
As a reminder, Thursday, January 13 will be a half day for our students with dismissal taking place at 11:20 a.m. Friday, January 14 will be a teacher workday and there will be no school for students. Then, Monday, January 17 will be a holiday for students and staff as we recognize Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We will all return on Tuesday, January 18. This will be a nice long weekend for all of us!
We will host the RBE School Improvement Council meeting on January 18 at 5:30 p.m. This meeting will take place via Zoom with a brief PTO meeting to follow. I will share the Zoom link prior to the meeting. We would love to see you in our meeting. The Lexington School District One board meeting will be held at the Central Services Auditorium and via Zoom at 7 p.m. that evening as well.
January 11 marks the 90th day of our school year and second semester will begin on January 18. Feedback Driven Progress Reports for our students will come home on Monday, January 24. On Tuesday, January 25, you may purchase Chick-Fil-A biscuits in our carline for $3 each. The proceeds go towards our Relay for Life campaign. Thanks in advance for your support!
Thank you for all you have done to support our students and our staff during the first half of this school year. We know that it has once again been a challenging one, but we have made it successfully together thanks to all of your patience and understanding! Happy 2022 to you all!
