Clayton Family Chronicles- May
May 5th, 2024
Dear Clayton Families,
I can't believe it but we have 19 school days left of the 23/24 school year! What an incredible year it has been. Our students have grown so very much and we are incredibly proud of each one of them every single day. As a school community, our goals focused on growth this year, both for our students and staff and I can confidently say we accomplished that this year!
As we wrap-up our final i-Ready testing of the school year, we will be sharing that end of year data point. Our hope is that you see growth both in that data point, but also in your child's social emotional learning and every day learning. Our focus on academics, collaboration and social emotional learning growth will continue into next year. We can't thank you enough for all of your support this school year! It takes a village and we have the most incredibly village here at Clayton!
I really look forward to seeing you at our Family Fun Night in two short weeks! It is one of my most favorite events of the year and I hope you can make it. See you soon!
Wishing you all my best,
Mrs. Kiplin
NJSD Families-
Has your child been positively influenced by an outstanding Neenah Joint School District staff member over the past year? If so, please consider nominating that individual for our annual Employee of the Year awards.
The District awards honors to employees in several areas, including classroom teachers at all levels, special services teachers, support staff and administrators. The District also honors a "team of the year" award to a group of individuals who have worked together to support students.
The nominations are due by May 10, 2024. Thank you for helping to honor our outstanding Neenah Joint School District staff!
Second semester report cards will came home with your child on Friday, May 31st, the last day of school. You will also be able to access these on your Infinite Campus Parent Portal as you did in the fall starting the afternoon of May 31st. Please note that for the 2024-2025 school year, we will again do electronic report cards in the fall and paper report cards in the spring. Please update your Infinite Campus Parent Portal over the summer with accurate contact information.
WOW! The support for our planned Staff Appreciation Week has been remarkable! Thank you to all that offered to help and signed up to support our week. There are a few spots left if you are still interested.
2023-2024 Class Placements
Clayton Families-
Our staff will soon begin the task of placing children in classrooms for the 24/25 school year. Many factors are considered when appropriately placing a student in a classroom. The Clayton staff seeks to meet the needs of all the students, and balance the needs of the individual students. We find that most parents are comfortable with the classroom placements made collectively by our staff. School enrollment changes each year as families move into and out of our attendance area.
Letters requesting to have or not have specific teachers will not be considered. Our Clayton staff works very hard to create the classroom placements that will best meet the needs of all students. They are committed to creating a positive learning environment for each and every one of our Clayton Cougars! Please also note that these class placements will not be released until the very end of August as there is often a lot of moving around during the summer months. Thank you for trusting us and doing what's best for your students!

Hello families!
Our students grew SO much as mathematicians over the course of the school year. All grade levels are right on pace with universal instruction and scheduled to finish Unit 7 of Bridges Math in the coming weeks. The remainder of the school year will be focused on some fun and engaging STEM related activities and experiences.
If you ordered the optional summer skills sharpener books, they will be distributed within the next week or so. Books will be sent home in student backpacks. If you didn't order summer books but are looking for additional resources for practice over the summer, we have you covered. A document with lots of additional resources will be shared in the final newsletter of the year. Thanks for partnering with us to make the most of math learning experiences this school year:)

Hello Clayton Families,
It is with a deep sadness that I will not be teaching art next year at Clayton. I am so sad that I cannot continue to teach your incredible artists. However, I will be moving onto teaching at the Middle and High School level so I am hopeful that one day I can be their art teacher again.
With that being said, I am so grateful for all of your kindness, excitement when it comes to your child's artwork, and support. Thank you, also, for the incredible turnout at the NJSD Art Show! Us art teachers had a blast seeing so many of our students and all of the parents' support.
The remainder of the school year will go quite fast, but we are ending it in a fun and creative way like we do best in art class. In May, I am hopeful to bring the kids outside for chalk, plant our painted pots with wildflower seeds, teach them about Pop Art and have them create silly Campbell's Soup Can creations, and whatever else they desire to make in this final month.
Thank you again for everything you do to raise such incredible children. I have really appreciated my time at Clayton. I wish you the most amazing summer!
~Ms. Dix
Dear Clayton Cougar Parents,
I hope everyone had a great spring break. When the kids returned to school they all worked on balance and arm strength during a “Railyard” unit. Every year Clayton gets to use equipment called the “Railyard” where they can work on balance as they walk across a wide bridge. Students can climb under and over or hang upside down like a sloth. They also worked to be part of the “Monkey Club” as they use their arm strength to climb the climbing rope. Or challenge themselves on the Climbing wall.
After that, the older students used throwing and catching skills in a game called Tchoukball. During the unit, students became team captains and helped each other with cooperation, encouragement, sportsmanship, and working through the fear of failure. The kids did great. The younger grades had fun playing some favorite games throughout the year and ending up doing some activities with the parachute.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jahn
