Car Rider Line Reminder - Be in Line by 3:50pm
On most days the car rider line is now ending at about 3:55pm. If you are using the car rider line, please be in line to be placed into the queue by 3:50pm. If you are not in the queue by this time you will need to park and go to the front office for a late check-out. Thank you!
Bus Tag Reminder
Please do not punch holes into the SMARTtag bus tags. They must go inside a clear plastic protector to attach to a backpack. When a hole is punched into the tag, the chip inside will not work and the tag will not read on the SMARTtag scanners.
Watch D.O.G.S. Sign-up Info
The Watch DOGS sign up genius for this semester will be sent to those who have turned in both the Watch DOGS form and district background check. Please only sign up for ONE day- we want to be able to give everyone who would like to participate the opportunity.

Stowe's Sticky Notes
Leader in Me Habit 4 is Think Win-Win. This is something that's easy to say and not always so easy to do? Why? Well, because most of us have been taught to think differently. I've always been a very competitive person- focusing on the Win for me, and the Loss for others- even when playing against my friends and family. For many of our students and families, it's the same- we want to win on the court or field, we want to collect the most jelly, we want to be at the top of the iReady lessons passed list in class. And sometimes that competitive nature spills over into some of life's tough situations when things shouldn't be so competitive.
For our students, it's often something on the playground. Friend A wants to play Game A and Friend B only wants to play Game B. Do I choose to play with Friend A and upset Friend B? Or do I play the Game B I really want to play with Friend B and leave out Friend A? What a dilemma for a child to decide between a win-lose or a lose-lose situation.
Habit 4 teaches us that there is almost always a 3rd Alternative- a Win-Win for everyone that relies on relationships and collaboration. This is not a compromise of playing Game A for 5 minutes and then Game B for 5 minutes, but rather collaborating on a mutually desirable alternative that we'll call Game C.
Although this sounds easy enough, it really only works when there are relationships that are based on trust. How do you grow relationships to have more trust? You make more deposits than withdrawals into each others Emotional Bank Accounts.
In a PDF below, you can find a short family activity that you can do with your kiddos that gives scenarios about how we feel when we have conflict, how we react, and how we can find the 3rd Alternative. I encourage you to give it a try sometime this month!

AP's Notes
Regular and timely attendance is essential for student success. Recently, we’ve noticed a significant increase in tardies and early departures schoolwide. This trend impacts instructional time and can lead to gaps in learning that are difficult to recover.
Our district policy emphasizes the importance of attendance:
- 10 tardies or early departures: Parents will receive an official notification letter.
- 15 tardies or early departures: The student will be required to complete one hour of credit recovery, either before or after school.
- Every additional 5 tardies or early departures: Another hour of credit recovery will be assigned.
We kindly ask for your support in reversing this trend by ensuring your child arrives on time and stays until the end of the school day. Together, we can create a positive and productive learning experience for all students! Thank you for your partnership.
Nurse's Notes
Hello, Lone Star Families!
Unfortunately, the flu is hitting LSE pretty hard right now. The main complaint that our kiddos have been complaining of are body aches, headaches and sore throats. Just a friendly reminder that your child must stay home if they are running a fever of 100.0 degrees or higher, vomiting and/or has diarrhea. They will need to be symptom and medication free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please do not medicate your child(ren) and send them to school, together we can stop the spread. Please keep a close eye on your kiddos and let me know if you have any questions!
Stay Well!
Arrival and Dismissal Notes
Do NOT park in a handicap space for any amount of time unless you have a handicap sticker. We have families that need to use these spaces.
If you are parking and not using the car rider line, you must walk your children into the vestibule. Students can only be dropped off on the car rider line.
If you arrive after 8:15am, you will need to park in the parking lot and escort your children inside for a tardy pass. Students may not be dropped off at the curb.
Transportation changes can be made through PikMyKid up until 2pm each day. Click on the calendar to update your dismissal method. It's always a good idea to let the teacher know via email/dojo/bloomz just in case.
The last time to check out a student early is 3:00pm. If you have an emergency, please contact the front office.
School ends each day 3:40pm and dismissal begins at that time. Please keep these times and the time it takes to dismiss all students in mind as you register students for extra-curricular activities.
At dismissal, if you need to buckle a child into a seat for car rider, after your child is safely in the car, please pull forward into a visitor parking spot so that you can safely buckle in your child and keep our line moving.
Updated Snack Procedures from Child Nutrition
The MISD Child Nutrition department has updated the number and grade spans for snacks to be consistent across all MISD Elementary campuses. This means that technically Kindergarten students could purchase an ice cream every day. In the past we had limited lower grades to just one day per week.
If you need to place a restriction on your child's lunch account so that they aren't charging a snack (or two!) every day, please reach out to our cafeteria manager, Erica Cedillo, at erica.cedillo@misd.org.
