Huskies Have HEART Newsletter
January 28, 2024
Greetings Central Heights Students and Families,
Monday, January 29th is an A-day. Thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter! If there is ever anything you would like to see in our newsletter or questions you have about school that may help other families learn more about school, please be sure to reach out and ask!
Please join us for family night! We will have free pizza and soda for all families. Clubs will be doing various fundraisers throughout the night as well; please consider bringing cash to support our clubs. There will also be a lot of free activities for students and their younger siblings to enjoy.
Semester Grades & Summer School Information:
Summer School will run June 17th - July 18th 2024 (Mondays-Thursdays) from 8:00am-1:00pm
Location for students in grades 6-8 will be Central Heights Middle School
Semester grades should be posted for your student(s). On these grades, you’ll notice the comments: “Your child is recommended to participate in Summer School math. Please register them for grade level math during Summer School registration” and/or “Your child is recommended to participate in Summer School literacy. Please register them for grade level math during Summer School registration”.
If you see a number (like a 1) in that box, with a comment below it, then your child IS recommended for summer school in that area.
If you see N/A in that box or the box is blank, then your child is NOT recommended for summer school in that area.
Here is the link to our summer school webpage for more information.
Vision Screening - Our Health Services team will be conducting a vision screening for all 7th grade students on 2/12/24 & 2/13/24. This is a quick screen to assess your child’s distance vision only. If your child does not pass the screen, you will receive a letter recommending they receive an evaluation from an eye doctor.
If you would prefer that your child not participate or have any questions, please contact the District Health Nurse, Elizabeth Feisthammel, at (608) 318-8107 or eafeist@sunprairieschools.org
International Cuisine Explorers meets every other Wednesday in room 515 after school from 3:40pm-4:40pm. Students must be signed up in Infinite Campus to participate.
Wednesday, January 31st
Pan Bagnat (France)
All recipes will be nut free, but may include wheat, eggs, and/or dairy. Please reach out to Ms. Towey with any questions - estowey@sunprairieschools.org
Coach Novoa (Cardinals) and Coach McIntosh (Wolves) are collecting contact information for those with an interest in playing BOYS high school soccer next autumn. Since soccer activities for both high schools start as early as mid-June, contact information will be helpful in communicating exact start times and dates -- and giving us a sense of numbers. An interested student-athlete should send us his full NAME, email address(es) and caregiver(s) email address(es) to:
Coach Rodrigo Novoa (rodrigo.j.novoa@gmail.com)
We look forward to greeting all our Sun Prairie players come summer time!
Regards, Coach Novoa and Coach McIntosh
Bus Driver Recognition Week - February 12-16, 2024 February 12-16, 2024 is School Bus Driver Recognition Week in the State of Wisconsin. We encourage families to go the extra mile to show appreciation to the men and women who work hard to get our students to and from school safely every day. Please take a moment to thank them or consider having your child make a token of appreciation. Your kind words, cards, etc., will surely make the driver’s week brighter!
Bus Delays and Emergencies
Please remember that buses may be slightly delayed when we are experiencing snow and icy conditions. Anything within 5 minutes of the scheduled arrival time is considered “on time.” If your child’s bus is delayed and/or evacuated for any reason (bus breakdown, emergency, etc.) students must stay with the driver and wait for further instructions. If another bus is dispatched students are to ride that bus and only get off at their assigned stop.
