Laurelhurst Community Update

We look forward to seeing everyone today and tomorrow for your scheduled teacher conferences.

K-5 Families: If you have questions about your conference time, code if you are meeting virtually, etc., please reach out directly to your teacher.

MS Families: If you registered for virtual meetings, the Google Meet code is in your sign up confirmation email (or on the conference web site where you registered). If you signed up for an arena conference, you will be meeting with your teachers in the gym.

For all conferences, please enter through the building's main entrance. The main office will be open all day, so feel free to ask the office staff if you need help finding your student's classroom (or you just want to say hello!).

We hope everyone has productive, informative meetings with your teachers!

Many families in our very own community are in need of extra help during the holiday season. Spread some cheer by donating to our parent-led gift card drive. Every contribution, big or small, makes a world of difference over the holiday season.

The Bazaar features over 100 vendors and student vendors with all the handmade and artisan goods you need for holiday gifts. In addition we will have our Wreath Auction and Bake Shop alongside coffee and food trucks. The is an amazing fundraiser that benefits the PTA, while serving as a beloved neighborhood tradition.

Sign up here! Each year our bake shop sells out! Brownies, cookies, breakfast sandwiches, cake, pastries, both sweet and savory--you name it, our hungry holiday shoppers will love it! Don't want to dig out the apron? Swing by the donut or bagel store on Sunday morning and drop off your contribution before you make your way through the Bazaar! Thank you for your support!

We would love to get 30 wreaths up on that wall at the Bazaar this year (so far we have 11 committed!). This is a fun, creative way to spread some joy and raise funds for Laurelhurst. 🦁

Any type of wreath is welcome—fresh greenery, festive with lights and baubles, elegant, cute, artistic, simple, avant garde—you name it! Part of the joy of the wreath auction is the eclectic mix of donated wreaths. Some folks buy a new one at the Bazaar every year! Student contributions are also very welcome.

Reminder that the BottleDrop Blue Bag “Holiday Give” started yesterday and runs until Dec 2nd! See below for details:

Raise funds for our Laurelhurst PTA this holiday season through the BottleDrop Give program. When you drop your Blue Bags at any bag drop location between Nov. 15th-Dec. 2nd, we will receive a 20% match from BottleDrop!

How the BottleDrop Blue Bag Program Works:

*Grab a Blue Bag (or 3) from the labeled can by the front door of the school, or on the porch of Samantha Janec (3612 NE Flanders Street). (These are available year round!)

*Fill up the Blue Bag with redeemable cans and bottles (~75-100 containers). Bags have a 20 lb. limit.

*Drop off you filled bags as a BottleDrop center. The closest locations are the Burnside Whole Foods, and the Hawthorne or Weidler Fred Meyer stores.

*At the drop-off location, scan the barcode on the bag to unlock the BottleDrop door. Drop the bag in, and you’re done! The Laurelhurst PTA receives all the proceeds.

Gearing up for the winter holidays? It's time to create those holiday cards!

This year the PTA has set up an easy way to support our school while spreading some holiday cheer. At the end of the year, 15% of each order placed using our unique code will be donated back to our PTA.

I am so grateful to be the principal of our amazing school. Thank you for all your support to our school community.
