Next Two Week's Schedule
Monday, May 20th
- Lockers must be cleaned out - only instruments and music can be left in band lockers
- Lost and found (including water jugs) will be donated at the end of the day

Presto Office Assistant
Charms is the online platform we use to send mass emails. They are ceasing operation this summer. We are switching to Presto as our office assistant for mass emails and contact information. The next two week's mass emails will be sent on both platforms before we fully transition away from Charms to Presto. Please let us know if you do not receive this week's mass email from this email address - no-reply@presto-assistant.com.
Graduation
The Wind Ensemble will be performing at Graduation on Saturday, May 25th at 4 pm at Strahan Colosseum. We will be wearing tuxes and dresses. We will be providing a snack for the students when they get on the busses after graduation.
Schedule for Saturday, May 25th
- Call time for graduation, noon - eat lunch before arriving
- Graduation, 4 pm, Strahan Colosseum
- Approximate parent pickup, 7 pm
Students need to bring these items with them on Friday.
- Black dress shoes (closed toe), black crew length socks or hosiery, white undershirt for boys.
Texas State Solo and Ensemble
All students who advanced to the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest will be attending the contest on May 27th. The performance schedule is listed below. $10 will be provided for one of the two meals.
Itinerary
- 9:30 am - Meet at the school
- 9:45 am - Depart DHS
- 11:30 am - Stop for lunch near Hendrickson HS
- 12:15 pm - Arrive at Hendrickson HS
- 1 pm - First performance at TSSEC
- 5:10 pm - Last performance at TSSC
- 5:30 pm - Depart Hendrickson HS
- 6:30 pm - Stop for dinner on the way home
- 8:15 pm - Arrive at Davenport HS
TSSEC Info
Mini Marching Camp
Our Mini Marching Camp Camp is May 28th-30th from 9 am-4 pm at DHS. This is required for all students participating in band or color guard during the 2024-2025 school year. We will be using attendance from this camp to decide how many spots to write in next year's marching show. Please bring water, snacks, lunch, and your instrument. We will have school owned instruments available. Students winds and percussion need to wear tennis shoes, a plain white tshirt, and athletic shorts. All color guard need to wear black shirts and athletic shorts.
All students need to arrive at 8:30 am on Tuesday if you need a school owned instrument. We will all start together with a student meeting at 9 am in the band hall.
Parent Preview Performance and Meeting
There is a Parent Preview Performance and Meeting on May 30th at 6:30 pm in the DHS Competition Gym. Call time for students for this performance is 6 pm. All winds and percussionist will wear a plain white tshirt and athletic shorts. This meeting is for new and returning members and parents. We will be announcing next year's out of state trip and focusing on new information.
Band Registration
Band Registration is Saturday, June 1st and is required for all students participating in band or color guard during the 2024-2025 school year. We will be collecting fees, getting fitted for our marching band uniform, and ordering uniform parts.
Here are times for registration. You can come at any time during the hour assigned. We do not recommend everyone show up at the top of every hour.
8:30 - SLT Registration
9 am - Seniors
10 am - Juniors
11 am - Sophomores Last names A-L
Noon - Sophomores Last names M-Z
1 pm - Lunch Break
2 pm - Incoming Freshmen Last names A-D
3 pm - Incoming Freshmen Last names E-M
4 pm - Incoming Freshmen Last names N-Z
The fair share fee will be $500 next year. We will release the list of required apparel next weekend with costs. Our online store for required uniform items will be open starting the week of May 27th. Returning members, please begin finding your uniform items from this year and see if they still fit.
Physicals
Here is the form that is required to be used for the pre-participation physical for marching band. A physical is required every year and must be completed after April 1, 2024 to be used for the 2024-2025 school year. Physicals are due by July 22nd, 2024.
School Owned Instruments
Students will be checked out a school owned instrument if needed at Mini Marching Camp. The fee is $80 for the school year and will be paid at band registration on June 1st. Percussion students will also pay this fee. Please email Mr. Keyes if you need a school owned instrument and play flute, clarinet, alto sax, or trumpet.
Trombone players are being asked to play marching baritone next year. We are doing this because marching all baritones and no trombones allows our drill writer to give all low brass students the same opportunities with their drill. It also reduces the wear and tear on trombone slides.
Letter Jacket Fitting
We are in the process of scheduling a fitting for all students who lettered at the TCGC Solo and Ensemble Competition or as a member of the Varsity Winter Guard.
2024-2025 Marching Band Fair Share Fee Update
The Fair Share Fee for the 2024-2025 school year will be $500. Siblings will be half price. Last year we fed the students over 20 times and used the majority of the fee to pay for food. Thanks to the support of our Booster Club, we are able to have a fair share fee that is hundreds of dollars less than programs in our area that we compete against. This fee is due on June 1st at band registration for the 2024 marching season. Payment plans are available. Please talk with Mr. Keyes is you have a concern regarding the fee.
