Saint Bridget School: a Catholic community that encourages a love of God, respect for all, and academic excellence.
Principal's Notes
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone has enjoyed this beautiful fall weekend. We have a very busy week ahead, with the Book Fair and the PTO Boosterthon.
Through the commitment of our amazing school community the Boostethon has already surpassed the $20,000 mark in fundraising, and heading towards our $25,000 goal! If we reach the goal by 6 am tomorrow morning students will earn a Free Dress Down Day on Wednesday! Let’s come together to support classroom technology, field trips, and enrichment programs that directly benefit our students!
Term I Progress Reports: Parents of students in grades 3 - 8 will receive a Term 1 Progress Report tomorrow night via email.
Boosterthon Day: The Boosterthon will be on Thursday, the schedule of what times classes will be participating will be sent out soon, offering an opportunity for you to come out and cheer on the students!
Long Weekend Reminder: We have no school this coming Friday or next Monday.
All my best,
Matthew Collins
Principal
Faith Formation - Weekly Affirmation
Our focus this coming week is ~ Be a Light
Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
God wants us to be light in our school, showing others His love through our actions. When we are kind, helpful and positive, we reflect God’s light and others will see His goodness in us.
Scholastic Book Fair!
We’re excited that our Scholastic Book Fair is happening this week! Our primary goal is to encourage a love of reading among our students, and the Book Fair is a wonderful way to engage them with new titles and genres.
Additionally, the Scholastic Dollars we earn from hosting the Book Fair will be used to expand our classroom libraries, enhance our school library collection, and provide books for our PTO Book Bingo night!
Thank you for supporting this initiative and helping foster a passion for reading in our children. Happy reading!

Teacher Spotlight - Mrs. Casagrande, Grade 2B
In Mrs. Casagrande’s 2nd grade class, the students are learning about repeated addition. First, Mrs. Casagrande displayed a model of an array. An array is the arrangement of objects or shapes in rows and columns. Mrs. Casagrande showed the class 15 circles arranged in an array with 3 rows and 5 columns. The students also had the same array in their workbooks. Mrs. Casagrande instructed the students to circle either the columns or the rows. Then, the students wrote an addition sentence to represent the array. Students wrote the number sentences 3+3+3+3+3= 15 or 5+5+5= 15 to represent the amount 15. Later in the lesson, Mrs. Casagrande had the students use cubes to create an array and determine the number of columns and rows to write the repeated addition number sentence.
In this lesson, Mrs. Casagrande used math representation to help the students understand the concept of repeated addition. Repeated addition is a precursor skill for learning multiplication. The process of representation includes using models to organize, record, and communicate mathematical ideas. The models show math through the use of manipulative materials, diagrams, graphical displays, and symbolic expressions. By seeing and representing mathematics in different forms, students are able to connect and make sense of mathematical ideas.
Mrs. Casagrande’s favorites: holiday: Halloween and Valentine’s Day; coffee/ tea order: Medium Caramel Swirl with almond milk; flower: roses and sunflowers; cookie: Chocolate Chip; place to shop: Target; season: Winter; Disney character: The Fairy Godmother from Cinderella and Genie from Aladdin.
