Brown Elementary Update
October 4, 2024
From the Desk of Dr. Cole Harms
Happy Friday Brown Bears!
Shanah Tova to those of you celebrating Rosh Hashanah this week.
Kindergarten had an exciting Field Trip to Tougas Farm! Everyone got a pumpkin and some apples and even though it wasn't super sunny, it was great to get everyone outside together in such a beautiful and fun space. Huge thank you to the Kindergarten teachers and the Family volunteer chaperones.
Our Renaissance Literacy and Math testing was completed for grades 1 - 4 last week and it has been a pleasure to watch our teachers dive into the data around all of our students and work collaboratively to determine the best strategies to meet the needs of all of our learners. Our new Literacy and Math Coaches (Allison Barbary & Mary Weidler - Literacy; Kevin Pritchard - Math) along with our Personalized Learning Coach (Lauren Carter) have spearheaded this data analysis and it is exciting to see our teachers engage in this meaningful work.
I wanted to share the following document: Brown School Screening Notification for Parents. If you have any questions about the screenings that will be coming from the School Nurses in the upcoming weeks, please reach out directly to our nurses at BrownNurse@natickps.org.
It was great to see some of you at the PTO "Meet the Principal" Coffee last month! We have another one scheduled for Wednesday, October 9 at 9 am. I hope to get a chance to meet some more of you there!
Have a great weekend!
Erica
Dr. Cole Harms Entry Plan Survey
As part of my commitment to supporting the students, staff and community of Brown School, I would like to invite you to complete a brief survey (linked below) to help me get a deeper understanding of the Family/Caregiver perspectives. Thank you for taking the time!
Transportation Info - Bus Seating Reminders
Please be advised that as of Monday 09/30 all students have been expected to sit by their grade levels on the bus. The lowest grade group should sit towards the front of the bus and the highest grade group should sit at the rear of the bus. Any student who has inappropriate bus behavior will be asked to move up front and be written up by their driver.
Please remind your students about the Bus Expectations and note that there are cameras on all buses. Cameras will be viewed by the Transportation Department and Principals after we receive a report or observation of inappropriate bus behaviors. At that time, you will receive a call from your student's school and a copy of your student's conduct report.
Student Shout Outs
Abe Berenson - Grade 3
Shoutout to Abe in Mr. Tourangeau's class for helping lead some of our new students on two tours of Brown School. He has been a great leader and a great friend!
Oliver Conte - Grade 4
Oliver noticed a classmate who was confused about a writing assignment. He helped by explaining the steps with his words and pointing to the class example on the chart. Thanks for being a writing coach to a friend in need, Oliver!
