Back to School Festival
During the Back to School Festival, 800 backpacks filled with school supplies were given away to students! The Back to School Fest is always a great event to ensure students and families are set up with all the necessary resources and information before the start of the school year, and to have a good time!
Thank you to the 20+ volunteers and 22 community agencies who contributed their time to make this event a success. Thank you to Care-a-Van who offered on-site vaccinations. A big shout-out goes to Green Diamond Resource Company, Our Community Credit Union, Alta Forest Products, and Alderbrook Resort and Spa for their generous contributions.
We are so grateful to our community and families who came out and look forward to the first day of school on September 4th!
Summer Summit 2024
That’s a wrap on Summer Summit 2024! Teachers and school staff gathered for a week of excellent professional development in preparation for the 2024-25 school year. We also had the privilege to honor 16 students from across the Shelton School District for their outstanding achievements in their literary journeys! Congratulations!!

Kindergartners get ready for their first day of school!
Over the past few days, students who will be entering kindergarten had the opportunity to visit their future schools for Kindergarten Jumpstart! During K Jumpstart, students had the chance to learn about a kindergarten classroom, the lunchroom, where the restroom is, how to access the playground, and other basic structures and routines that support the IMPORTANT work of being a kindergarten student. We can't wait to welcome all kindergartners on their first day of school!
District Information
Free Meals for the 2024-25 School Year
Thanks to funding from state and national school nutrition programs, our district will offer free breakfast and lunch to all students in the 2024-25 school year!
Families that qualify for Basic Food, TANF, FDPIR, ECEAP, Foster Care, Homeless, or Migrant may be automatically enrolled in the school meal program as “Directly Certified” for free meals. Some Medicaid programs through DSHS may directly certify your student for free or reduced school meals.
Families that are directly certified will be sent a notification letter explaining their child (ren)’s qualification for free or reduced meals. You do not need to complete the annual Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit (CNEEB) application if you receive a notification of approval letter.
All families that do not directly certify should complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit application this school year. Qualifying applications provide important funding for our district and can provide additional benefits to families like waived school fees and summer food assistance (SUN bucks).
If you have any questions feel free to call the Food Service Department at 360-426-2533.
