A message from the principal
It has been a wonderful transition into the school year! We have experienced some of the typical start-of-school hiccups, such as late bus arrivals and dismissals, but those usually get ironed out during the first couple of weeks. Our parent pick-up and drop-off areas are off to safe and successful start as well. Thank you for your support in adhering to our procedures and safety protocols, and for being on time at both ends of the school day. We appreciate your partnership in helping us get the school year up and running!
Please remember to communicate with your child's teacher if you are making a change to their regular end-of-day transportation. Unless we hear from a parent/guardian, we will send your child home utilizing their typical transportation method.
We will already have small groups up and running next week, in order to provide additional math and literacy instruction for students. Utilizing funding provided by the district along with the new Title 1 funding we are receiving this school year, students will be participating in flexible intervention groups based on need. This approach allows us to tailor support to each student's unique needs and ensure they receive targeted assistance to help them succeed. This may mean there are times your student participates in additional groups, and times they do not. Being a Schoolwide Title building gives us the flexibility to keep our groups fluid. You will be receiving additional information about our Title 1 program during fall conferences.
We are looking forward to a wonderful school year!
Specialty highlights
Our school gardens are also off to a strong start as students have helped to harvest some of the many fruits and vegetables that grew during the summer. Last year's Kindergarteners have already sampled their cucumbers and purple carrots with many more items to come!
4th and 5th Grade students will have their first Junior Master Gardener lessons later this month!

Volunteer news
Hello CBPA families! I hope the first 2 weeks of school have gone well for you and your family! It is great to have students back in the building!
If you haven't completed your volunteer paperwork for this school year please do so! To be part of the volunteer team at CBPA, please click here to complete your volunteer application. Once you complete your application form, you will receive a link to complete your criminal history release form. Both forms need to be completed each school year and are needed for all volunteer activities (including field trips.). If you have any questions, please let me know!
Thank you to those volunteers who helped us get ready for school starting by doing open house packets and projects for staff members. Thank you as well to those volunteers who assisted these past 2 weeks with our Kindergarten Conferences and volunteers who cut paper for the art teacher!
Please see below for what help is currently needed:
Morning/Breakfast Volunteers: Volunteers are needed during the month of September to help with the traffic flow of students into the building and through the breakfast lines. They can stay with you until the first bell at 9:10 a.m. Please click on the link below to sign up to help:
September Lunchroom: Volunteers are needed to help with getting the students through the serving line, assisting them while they are eating, helping them during lunch dismissal and wiping down tables. PTO Updates
Thank you to all who joined us at the PTO Forum on September 10, it was a great conversation and kick off to what’s going to be a great year! Our next PTO meeting is October 8, in the CBPA Nature Center.
Join us at McDonald’s in Champlin on Tuesday, September 17 from 4-8pm for a restaurant fundraiser! A portion of sales that night will come back to CBPA PTO, and right into your students’ classrooms. Then make plans to stop by Culver’s on October 1 for Culver’s Share Night! Restaurant Nights make for an easy dinner and support our school! Thank you to our favorite local businesses for this opportunity.
Next month we will be attempting to get CBPA in the record books! The Guinness World Record books! Support our journey to make history and raise money for our school. If we meet our goal of $40,000, we will invite local artist Emiko Rainbow to design and install a custom mural in the cafeteria! Plus, the top earning classrooms will get to choose an element in the mural! More details to come!
