PRAYER FOR THE WILDFIRES
Heavenly Father,
We turn to You in this time of great trial, as the wildfires rage across Los Angeles. Protect those in danger, comfort those who have lost their homes, and welcome into Your eternal embrace the souls of those who have perished.
Lord, we pray for the firefighters and first responders. Grant them strength, courage, and safety as they battle the flames. May Your guiding hand lead them to protect lives and property.
Holy Spirit, inspire us to be instruments of Your peace and love, supporting our brothers and sisters in need with our prayers, resources, and compassion.
Mother Mary, Queen of Angels, intercede for us in this hour of need. Bring hope to the hopeless and healing to the afflicted.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
AMEN.
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Bruin Families,
Happy three day weekend! I'd like to start by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to our students and families for their generous contributions to the Wildfire Relief effort. Together we raised $2,161.80 which will go directly to two local schools (St. Elizabeth in Altadena and St. Rita in Sierra Madre)
who are seeking funding to help get kids and families back on their feet after the Eaton fire.
As we prepare to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, I encourage everyone to reflect on his teachings of equality, justice, and service to others. Let us embrace his vision by continuing to be a positive force in our community.
Additionally, please note that STAR testing will begin next week. I encourage our students to approach these assessments with confidence and to give their best effort. We look forward to witnessing their growth and identifying continued areas of focus in their learning.
Finally, we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week starting January 26th. It is a time to honor our faith, academic excellence, and the vibrant community that makes our school special. See below for more details about the events planned for this meaningful week.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are a truly blessed community!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ryan Nearhoff

CHILD SAFETY ๐จ
DID YOU KNOW?
January 18-19 || Small actions to take for child safety
Being a safe adult is more than just taking some classes on abuse prevention and filling in the right answers. Adults who model healthy behaviors are a strong example for children, helping them distinguish safe from unsafe adults. Basic actions, like wearing a seatbelt, obeying school rules and ministry guidelines, and always acting in a way that supports children can help build a safe community. For more ideas, read the VIRTUSยฎ article โModeling healthy behaviorsโ at lacatholics.org/did-you-know.
Mission Statement
To educate TK-Eighth grade students in a Catholic environment in which the curriculum emphasizes spiritual, ethical, and social values of the Catholic faith to become responsible and moral citizens within the global community.
Philosophy
Supporting the belief that parents are the primary educators of their children, we as educators at St. Dorothy Catholic School, dedicate ourselves to partner with the parents in preparing children to become contributing members of the community. To achieve this, we provide holistic development in psychological, emotional, social and physical health, with an emphasis on academics, faith, and Christian service.
In collaboration with parents, we champion student achievement through the presentation, practice, and study of Catholic doctrine, a strong academic curriculum, multimedia and multi-cultural experiences, physical education, extracurricular programs, and the dedicated commitment of the teachers and staff.
