Hamilton Avenue Update
Diane Chiappetta Fox, Principal
February 23, 2024
Vol. 2 No. 25
Greetings! We had a lovely transition back to school after our winter break. The 26th of February marks the end of the Marking Period at our school. Your K-5 classroom teachers should have contacted you about scheduling a Report Card Conference on either March 11th (no school for students) or March 13th (early release for students). We cannot stress the importance of attending these informative conferences. Please contact your teacher if you have not heard from them regarding an appointment.
PJ Day
It turns out that I was wrong about the amount of money raised for childhood cancer on PJ Day. It was actually $22,796. Sophie Lenschow is a senior this year. She wrote in an email, "I would absolutely love to keep this initiative going after I leave for college - my sister, Anna, who is a sophomore at GHS would be very happy to take over the coordination next year." I answered her and told her that Hamilton Avenue would love to continue to participate. Thank you to all who contributed. Here is a thank you from Sophie: "Thank you so so much to everyone who participated in the PJ Day Fundraiser for Connecticut Children's Hospital just before break. Across the district, an amazing $22,796!! This incredible sum of money will be put to good use funding research for pediatric cancer. Thank you again so much!!"
Thanks so much,
Sophie
Board of Education Meeting
What an honor for our school to be recognized last night at the Board of Education meeting for being named one of the State of Connecticut's Schools of Distinction! Mrs. Simonelli and I were in good company with our counterparts from Riverside, ISD, North Mianus, Parkway, and North Street Schools.
Black History Month Assembly
Thank you Ms. Martins for organizing our Black History Month Assembly yesterday. See photos below.
Incoming Kindergarten Meeting
On Wednesday, March 5th, at 9:00 AM, we will host our Incoming Kindergarten Parent Orientation. This is an informative meeting, and we will discuss any questions you may have about Kindergarten at Hamilton Avenue School. If you know of any families who may be coming to Hamilton Avenue, please encourage them to attend on the 5th or to contact the main office for more information.
Please read to the end to learn how to support the PTA Double Good fundraiser. Have a restful weekend!
Best,
Mrs. Fox

District Art Show
Please join us on Monday evening from 5:30-7:00 at the Greenwich Arts Council for the District Art Show where some of our students will be sharing the great work they have created with Ms. Shores. I am looking forward to seeing the beautiful work.
STEAM Challenge Parent Check-Ins
Hamilton Avenue Scholars in grades K-5 will complete a problem-based learning activity by selecting a topic of interest within a specific STEAM framework. Scholars will research, reflect, create, design, share, and present their discoveries at the Challenge on Thursday, May 23, 2024, using a display method of their choice. Scholars will not only teach about their topic and learning, but will have the opportunity to learn from their peers as well. This project will be completed primarily at home with the support of families. At school, we will have special days each month for students to work on their projects. We will also provide monthly family help sessions beginning in March.
EVERYTHING AFTERS!!
