Dear Lincoln Families
We are excited to begin the 2nd Trimester of school with your children. Last Friday, November 15th, teachers finalized report card competencies in PowerSchool to reflect your childś present levels of skills mastery. You will receive your child's report card detailing their progress during Trimester 1 via email on Friday, November 22nd. Please be sure that we have an updated email address for you on file in PowerSchool so that you receive it. A printed version of your child's report card, will also be provided.
Here are a Few Updates for the Week:
- There is a FULL week of school.
- 1st Grade Classes are going on a field trip to the Central Branch Library on November 18th.
- YMCA Open Library ¨Charlie Brown Thanksgiving¨ November 20th, 5:30-7:00 pm. RSVP with Ms. Jen if you plan on attending at jshea@kzooymca.org by Tuesday, November 19th.
- Encourage 20 minutes of reading at home each night for your child independently or with someone else. 20 minutes a day is the Lion Way to build strong reading muscles.

Attendance Expectations and Support
When your student has the following number of unexcused absences in a trimester, you should expect to receive the following notifications and support.
3 days of unexcused absences in a trimester
💻 Letter or email to parent/guardian
📞 Robo text or phone call
5 days of unexcused absences in a trimester
💻 Letter or email to parent/guardian
📞 Phone Call from Home School Support Specialist
📅 In person, virtual or phone conference with Principal
10 days of unexcused absences in a trimester
💻 Letter or email to parent/guardian
🏫 School attendance committee creates an individualized plan of support
15 days of unexcused absences in a trimester
💻 Letter or email to parent/guardian
🏢 Referral to central office. The central office attendance team will make further recommendations that may include:
wrap around services
referrals to community support organizations
academic interventions
summer school attendance
possible recommendations for grade level retention
Premier 2nd-3rd Grade Basketball
Practice will continue this week for our 2nd-3rd Grade Lincoln Lions Basketball Team! Practice Times are Wednesdays 3:30-5:30 pm. You should have received a text to be added to the BAND app for updates regarding game schedules and practices. Communities In Schools Updates
Vision Assistance Program
Did you know that Communities In Schools has a vision fund assistance program that can help pay for your student to get a eye exam, new glasses, replacement glasses, and cover out of pocket cost? Who is this fund for? Students with out vision insurance, student who have broken their glasses and are not covered for a new pair, and students who have failed their vision exam and need to see an optometrist. The fund will cover 1 eye exam, and 1 to 2 pairs of new frames and lenses. Contact Mr. Burrel at the school for more details!
Family Health Center Mobile Health Unit
Did you know that Lincoln has resources available for your child to be sign by the doctor or a dentist at school? Sometimes making it to the doctor is hard! Let the doctor come to you! No appointments, getting transportation, or taking a day off work. The Family Heath Center mobile medical and dental unit comes right to the school during the day. They provide well child checkups, immunizations, dental care, and more. Contact Mr. Burrel at the school for more details! (269) 337-0690
CIS Thanksgiving Community Feast
With Thanksgiving approaching fast, it's time to begin considering families who may need help securing food for a meal for the holiday. Communities In Schools has received support from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Gryphon Place, New World Flood (TJ Duckett's non-profit) and Spartan Nash to make this happen for families. We have a limited amount (31 meals) of Thanksgiving meals available for families in need. Each meal contains : 12lb frozen turkey, mashed potatoes, canned yams, canned cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, canned green beans, turkey gravy mix, and will serves about 4-6 people. If you would like a meal for your family, please contact Mr. Joseph Burrel here at the school (269) 337-0640 or by email burrelj@kalamazoopublicschools.net. All meals will be delivered on Wednesday, November 27th 2024 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be no pick ups. The DEADLINE requesting a meal is NOVEMBER 22nd at 3:00PM.

Are you ready for the winter? Join us to learn what to expect this winter and how to keep you and your family safe and warm on Thursday, January 9th from 4 to 6 p.m. location 315 Rose Street 3rd floor, Van Desun room.
