It's Time for May Flowers!
New Covid Protocol
The school district has developed new guidelines that align with the CDC's Covid guidelines.
Students who are ill should return to school when symptoms are getting better overall, and they have been fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours. Please review the information on the Respiratory Illness Response Page which can always be found on SPS district website. Click HERE to learn more about the new protocol.

Move-A-Thon Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who made our Move-a-Thon a success! Collectively, BHIS students took about 938,426 steps during the Move-A-Thon last Friday! Big shoutouts to Rebecca Over and Stephanie Gruss for organizing the event, to Art Katayama and Adam Kennedy for coordinating the fruit donation from Rainier Valley Food Bank, to Robb Valentine for DJing, to Heather Graves for letting us takeover her gym and teaching kids the chicken dance and macarena, and to ALL the parents, staff, and Junior Coaches who came out to support the event! THANK YOU! If you would still like to support SESSFA and BHIS during this fundraiser, you can donate online or bring a check or cash to the school: https://www.sessfa.org/.
Teacher Appreciation Week!
Teacher appreciation week is May 5-10! On Wednesday, May 8, the PTA will host a Teacher and Staff Appreciation Lunch. Please sign up to bring a food item, to support the event, or to donate a plant cutting for our teachers and staff to take home here.
Get involved:
Fundraising Committee: The PTA’s budget committee has met weekly throughout the month of April, and one thing is clear - we would love to support our kids even more next year! The PTA financially supports things like school supplies for every student; running the after-school program; family liaisons and council leads for the Black, Chinese, and LatinX family councils; community events such as Lunar New Year, Black History Month, Dia de los Ninos, and International Day; interpretation and translation; family relief fund; Amity guest teacher; 5th grade camp and graduation; teacher appreciation; and so much more! As our executive board members step away next year, we greatly need your help. If you are interested in holding a board position or being on the fundraising committee next year, please reach out to info@beaconhillpta.org. Thanks for considering!
