Weekly Wrangler
October 11th, 2024
Message from Ms. Triplett
Howdy Wrangler Families,
We have a VERY exciting week coming up at the Ranch!
This Friday, is favorite event of the year, our Fall Festival! This fun-filled event is one of the highlights of the year, and we can’t wait to see you all there. Today is the LAST day to take advantage of the PTA pre-sale price, so don’t miss out! Be sure to also purchase your pumpkins for pick-up at our very own Fall Festival Pumpkin Patch. It’s going to be a fantastic evening of games, food, and community fun for everyone!
DON'T FORGET - Next week is our Parent-Teacher Conference Week. This is a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and discuss their progress. As a reminder, all students will be dismissed at 12:30 PM each day next week. Please be prompt in picking up your children at this earlier dismissal time.
Feeling hungry? Tuesday, October 15 is our restaurant night at Jersey Mike’s Day! Stop by any time during the day to grab a delicious lunch or dinner, and a portion of the proceeds will go directly to supporting our school.
On Wednesday, October 16, we celebrate Unity Day by wearing orange in support of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. At Lang Ranch, we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of unity and respect. Let’s stand together to show that bullying has no place in our school! Wear your brightest orange to show your support for unity and a positive school environment.
Finally, on Thursday, October 17, our school will participate in The Great California Shakeout, an earthquake safety drill. This is a crucial practice for ensuring that students and staff are prepared and know what to do in case of an earthquake. Safety is always our priority, and these drills help us stay ready for any emergency. Take this time to discuss earthquake safety with your family at home too!
Be sure to read the remainder of this newsletter for important information including Independent Study, Spirit Wear, and School Pictures. Thank you, as always, for your partnership in making Lang Ranch such a special place for our students. We look forward to seeing you at these upcoming events!
Happy Trails,
Ms. Triplett

** Short Term Independent Study Changes **
CVUSD has made major changes for Short Term Independent Study (“STIS”). Our school gets funding from the State based on student attendance. If your student is not present (regardless of reason: excused/unexcused), we do not get paid.
STIS is available for families when a student is absent. Once an agreement is signed and schoolwork submitted & graded by the teacher, the absences will be changed to reflect that schoolwork was received and missed days will not be marked against his/her attendance record.
Advantages of doing STIS are your child will accrue attendance (i.e., will be as though he/she were present in class), teacher gets reimbursed for prepared schoolwork, and allows CVUSD to collect funds based on student average daily attendance. There now is NO minimum number of days or NO limitations on reasons for STIS. You may apply for STIS for as little as a single day and for ANY reason (travel, illness, doctor visit, mental health day, etc.). Please consider applying for STIS when your child is absent – the most advanced notice will be greatly appreciated.
*Only 15 STIS days per school year permitted*
Contact health clerk/attendance liaison Kristine Kawaguchi at kkawaguchi@conejousd.org or 805/241-4417 ext 319 if interested in STIS, have questions, or need additional information.

"Office Chatter"
~Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures~
- Please drop off your students off of Sandhurst or Knightsbridge. Drop Off's at the front office are not permitted unless the student is tardy.
- Please pick your students up on time. It's important to teach your kids to be timely and modeling it is the best way to exhibit that behavior. School lets out at 1:30 for TK & K and 2:35 for Grades 1-5.
- If you are picking your student up during school hours, please make sure you have your ID on you. For safety purposes we can't release a student without an ID. We also can not call a student out of class unless you are in the building.
~Sharing Food~
- Parents are not permitted to send/bring lunch for their student's friends. Please make sure your students are not sharing food during lunch. We have this rule in place due to allergy reasons. Let's keep all of our little Wranglers safe! Thank you for your support.
Visitors & Volunteers
All volunteers and visitors MUST check-in at the front office with your ID each time you are on campus. You will not be permitted on campus without your ID.
If you will be volunteering regularly on campus, you will need to fill out the volunteer paperwork. It was sent home the first week of school and needs to be submitted at least one week prior to the start of volunteering. All volunteers must have a scheduled volunteer time with their student's teacher. Thank you for your support in keeping our school safe!
