Sports Day Transport
We have negotiated a deal with a local coach company who have agreed to transport the whole school to sports day at the football club on 20th June. Children may still be taken home directly after the event if you wish.
Water Information Day
The Eco Warriors are holding a water information day on Friday 13th June to raise awareness of issues relating to water waste and pollution. This is for information only and we are not asking for donations.
National Thank A Teacher Day
The UK-wide celebration of all teaching and support staff is back. National Thank a Teacher Day will be celebrated on Wednesday 18th June! As always, we will be celebrating all the amazing teaching and support staff in our schools - from the dinner helpers to the classroom assistants and librarians. They deserve the spotlight for everything they do to keep things running smoothly. Want to make someone's day? If you know a special teacher, dedicated support staff member or even a whole school team, let them know how grateful you are by sending a free e-card on the Thank a Teacher website.
PTA Sponsored Event
We will have a PTA sponsor event in school on 24th June, where an international athlete will lead our children in an energetic event, inspiring them to become more active and pursue their goals. Everyone will take part, but please do sponsor children as all the money raised will benefit the PTA.
Monk Fryston Beer Festival
Save the date! The MF Beer Festival will take place on the weekend of 12 – 14th September 2025.
PTA AGM
Please note that the date of the PTA AGM has been brought forward to 8th July at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome.
Lost Property
Please remember to name all your child’s belongings. There is a huge amount of lost property at present, and if it is not clearly named we are unable to return it to its owner.
Park and Ride Consultation - please complete the form by Monday.
Message from one of our parents.
City of York Council is running a consultation about the Park and Ride sites in York and really want to reach non York residents, so hearing from school parents would be incredibly helpful.
The info is here - https://ourbigconversation.york.gov.uk/business-intelligence/park-and-ride-2025/
It closes on Monday. It only takes 10 mins and we really value everyone's comments. You don't have to fill in all the questions, you can just answer the ones you want.
Name Labels
If you are thinking of purchasing name labels for September have a look at these. Please quote our fundraising number which is 13612 as we will receive 30% commission on all purchases.

Free school meals for all years for pupils whose families receive financial support.
If you are in receipt of certain benefits, your child could also qualify for free school meals during all school years. To qualify you must be receiving:
Universal Credit, provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods (£616.67 per month)
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Support under part six of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The guarantee element of Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit, provided you are also not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual household gross income that does not exceed £16,190 (as assessed by HMRC)
Working Tax Credit run-on, paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Please note that contributions-based benefits, including contribution-related Jobseekers' Allowance do not entitle you to claim free school meals.
You will receive an instant decision on whether your application is successful. If it is, we will fully process the application in 5 working days and notify the school. Once the school has received this your child can begin enjoying free school meals. You should continue to pay until confirmation comes through. Schools may be able to arrange reimbursement of payment made while your entitlement is being confirmed.
Free school meals claims cannot be backdated. They are awarded from the date we receive the application, once eligibility is confirmed. This is because there is a legal requirement for a request to be made, before a free school meal can be provided. If you are not entitled to free school meals, you will be notified in writing.
