One Stop Holiday Shop

Be sure to stop by the Gananda Alumni Association's second annual One Stop Holiday Shop on Saturday, November 16. The fundraiser will take place at Richard Mann Elementary from 11 am to 3 pm.

There will be over 50 vendors and crafters, a PTO Bake Sale, Food Trucks, raffles, and more!

Cross Creek Church - Project Serve 2019

Gananda Central School District is pleased to announce it is once again supporting the efforts of Project Serve to provide Thanksgiving dinners to families in need within our area. This annual effort is being led by Cross Creek Church.


Project Serve provided meals to 450 families last year. The meals include a turkey dinner, potatoes, stuffing, a pie, rolls, and vegetables. If you would like to support the effort you can do one of two things:


1)Donate:

  • Donate online. The meals cost $30 per family.
  • Donate at School on Friday, November 15 and/or November 22. There will be collection jars in the offices and entrances to all buildings.


2) Sign up to volunteer. Cross Creek Church buys the food in bulk, they need people to pack the boxes and deliver the meals. They will begin packing at 9 am on Saturday, November 23rd at Cross Creek Church, deliveries will begin as soon as the packing is completed. It is a great way for a family to spend time together.


We also encourage all students, staff, and community members to wear blue on the November 15 and orange on the November 22.

Upcoming Capital Improvement Project - Preserving Our Future

With the completion of the Road to 2020 Capital Improvement Project, the district is looking ahead to the next phase of improvement to begin in 2021. We will be unveiling a new capital improvement project entitled Preserving Our Future in the coming weeks. The major components of this project include altering the parking and traffic flow to the high school to increase safety, replacing outdated roofing on all buildings, and updating mechanical systems to ensure a productive learning environment. Additional information about the project will be available shortly. The vote for the project will be held on Tuesday, December 17 from 12-9 pm at Ruben A, Cirillo High School.

Girls Basketball Can Drive this Saturday

The Gananda Girls Basketball Team will be collecting cans and bottles on Saturday, November 9 from 9 am-12 pm. Leave your rinsed cans and bottles in bags at the end of your driveway and our athletes will be around to collect them!

Gananda Middle School Drama Club Presents Frozen JR

The Gananda Middle School Drama Club will be performing Disney’s Frozen JR on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23 at 7 pm in the middle school auditorium. Tickets are $6 each and will be available at the door.


A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!

Baked Goods Donations Needed for PTO Bake Sale

The holidays are coming up, and once again the PTO has decided to participate in the One Stop Holiday Shop held at the Richard Mann Elementary School on November 16. The PTO is in looking for donations of baked goods. A drop off/pick up time can be arranged. Please reply to this Amber Linson with your name, email and an idea of something you would like to make. Gananda Central School District recognizes the importance of communication with parents, community members, students and staff. While every effort is made to ensure that accurate information is shared, it is not uncommon for rumors or myths to be circulating throughout the community. As such, we have started a page on our website entitled, "Fact Checker Page." This page is dedicated to providing accurate information about GCSD. If you see or hear information about GCSD that you believe is inaccurate you can have it fact checked! #Driven

As many of you are aware, our art teacher Alex Flansburg has been battling lung cancer since last year. In his battle against the disease, he has been #driven to help educate others and speak candidly about the struggles he has faced. One way he is empowering others is with his own Cancer Coloring Book online to help others visualize the battle they face. We are #GanandaProud of the light of positivity Alex's vision and artistic expression is bringing to the intense challenge of fighting cancer. #Respect

Last week Private First Class Joe Proeto came to speak to our 8th grade students about Rochester's Honor Flight, a non-profit organization that flies veterans for free to Washington D.C. to visit and reflect together at their memorials. He had served in the Army during the Cold War and spoke to our students about his experiences in the army, as well as his Honor Flight trip earlier this fall. During his trip to Washington, Proeto received a surprise when the letter he received was from his very own grandson, Gananda eighth grade student, Connor Doll. As part of the Honor Flight trip, veterans receive letters from students to read on their journey, but Proeto had no idea he would be getting a letter from his own grandson. It made his journey even more special. The Honor Flight letter writing campaign is an annual tradition at Gananda Middle School. We would like to thank Joe Proeto for his service to our country and acknowledge our 8th grade students for their #respect for our veterans.

#Outstanding

Awesome job by these student volunteers for making ornaments for the Gananda Dollars for Scholars Chrismas tree. The tree will be entered in the Light the Night in Ginegaw Park Contest which takes place on Saturday, December 7. Cold urticaria is a skin reaction to cold that appears within minutes after cold exposure. Skin develops red, itchy welts (hives). People often say they are "allergic" to the cold.



Cold urticaria symptoms begin after the skin is exposed to a sudden drop in air temperature or cold water. Damp and windy conditions may make a flare of symptoms more likely.

The worst reactions generally occur with full skin exposure, such as swimming in cold water. Anaphylactic reactions can occur with cold urticaria.


If you have skin reactions after cold exposure, see your doctor.

5th Grade Family Fun Night

Come support the 5th graders with a night of family fun on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 6-8 pm at Richard Mann Elementary School. There will be pizza, candy, soda, and baked goods for sale at the event. Of course, the famous raffle will also be taking place with lots of great prizes to win! The cost is $5 per person or $10 per family.

Attention Fifth Grade Parents

All fifth graders receive a memory book at the end of fifth grade highlighting their years here at Richard Mann Elementary. This book is organized and funded through parents. Our only fundraiser is the annual Family Fun Night which will be held Friday, January 24, 2020 from 6-8 PM. In order to make this night a success, we need ALL parents to help! We will be having a meeting on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 7 PM in the Richard Mann Elementary Library. Many hands make light work! We look forward to seeing you all there!

Gananda Cheerleading Mini Cheer Camp

Join the Varsity & JV Cheerleaders for our 5th annual Mini Cheer Camp! At camp, they will learn a cheer and short dance that will be performed with the High School Cheerleaders during halftime of the Basketball game on Tuesday, December 10. Camp includes a t-shirt, craft & snack!
