Weekly update August 19 - 23, 2024
Weekly Update for August 26 to 30, 2024
Families,
Thank you for your patience as we work through the new Hug and Go lane. There have been some community members parking and blocking the lane on Garfield, making it difficult to access the lane and keep traffic moving. We are working with our district Safety and Security Department, as well as the City of Loveland to find the best solutions to keep students and families safe as they come and leave school each day.
Please join us on Thursday, August 29th, from 5:00 - 6:00 pm for Back to School Night. This night is intended to give classroom teachers a chance to share more about the school year and what to expect for your child in their new grade level. There will be three-20 minute sessions to ensure you are able to make it to multiple grade levels if needed. We look forward to seeing you there!
All my best,

Café con Leche
Please join our parent group called Café con Leche. They will have their first meeting on Wednesday, September 4th at 9:30am. If you are unable to attend, a Google Meet link will be available to join virtually if you prefer. We hope to see you there!
Café con Leche has some exciting news! They supported the purchase of 5 portable AC units for the Music room, Library, 5th grade classrooms and the English Language Development room. Air conditioning units were purchased by Café con Leche to help keep our school cooler during these hot days at the beginning of the school year. You can support purchases like this-as well as fund field trips and classroom events- by volunteering with Café con Leche or attending Café con Leche events.

College and Career Week
Dear Parents,
We will again be hosting a College and Career Week at Truscott . This year it will be earlier so we are already planning.
It will be the week of September 30 - October 4th!
Last year we focused on Careers Around Us. We had the City of Loveland, many First Responders, Several different departments from Thompson School District and several parents and community members come and share their careers and career journeys with our students.
We would love to have more parents come to share their careers with our students! Would you be willing to come on Thursday October 3rd from 8:30 to 10:30 am(please note the time change) We would love to have parents from the medical field, construction, technology, culinary, small business, travel, manufacturing, or whatever you are involved in and would be willing to share with our students! Sharing our experiences with our students helps them to start thinking about their career journey.
If you are interested, please email Tanya Brown - School Counselor at tanya.brown@tsd.org, or call the front office at Truscott at 970 - 613 - 6900.
PurposeFULL People
Dear Family,
We are thankful for you being part of our school community! The world is changing quickly and
we want to do everything we can to help students be successful in school and life.
We are excited to tell you that we will be using a program called PurposeFull People this year.
This program teaches skills that will help students be successful in school and in life.
We believe that students should have safe, predictable places to learn where they feel included.
Students should have healthy and helpful connections with teachers and classmates. They
should also experience learning that will help them tackle challenges inside and outside of
school. PurposeFullPeople is more than a set of lessons - it is a partnership between schools
and families to create a place where students feel like they belong and learn skills that will help
them be the best they can be!
Purposefull People has three main goals for students: Be Kind, Be Strong, and Be Well.
● Be Kind: Social skills like listening, friendship, solving conflicts, and leadership.
○ These skills are taught alongside Empathy, Respect, & Cooperation
● Be Strong: Skills that help students focus, stay organized, and set goals.
○ These skills are taught alongside Responsibility, Courage, & Perseverance
● Be Well: Skills that help students handle their emotions and deal with stress.
○ These skills are taught alongside Gratitude, Honesty, & Creativity
This year, you’ll be invited to join the fun! We will send letters home about the skills and
strengths being taught each month. Each letter will include some ways to build these skills at
home, discussion starters, and fun challenges you can try with your family.
The path forward is full of growth! We cannot wait to partner with you in this work...
● To teach students how to build strong friendships
● To work together to solve problems, big and small
● To grow skills for life
● To become PurposeFull People
With Gratitude,
Tanya Brown

Tech 4 All Parent Letter
Dear Thompson Parents,
Welcome to Thompson’s Tech4All (1:1) program, a vital component of Thompson’s Strive 2025 Strategic plan. Tech4All equips students with the digital tools they need to enhance their learning and prepare for the future. We invite you to partner with us as we empower students to thrive in today's rapidly evolving digital world.
Tech4All supports TSD’s strategic plan by providing digital tools that enable students to demonstrate their learning meaningfully and reach their fullest potential. Whether it's exploring interactive digital textbooks, collaborating with peers on projects, or engaging in immersive educational experiences, the possibilities are limitless.
Each student will receive a TSD digital learning device, ensuring equitable access to resources and enabling personalized learning experiences.
K-1st grade will receive an iPad
2nd-5th grade students will receive a touch screen Chromebook
Your child’s device will serve as their digital learning tool throughout their time in the Thompson School District. Each year the device will transition with them to the next grade level and will be replaced when they move to middle or high school.
Students and families are responsible for the care and safety of their district device. Please see our Technology Agreement Form which includes a link to the JS - Responsible Use Policy for TSD. Instructions to accept the Tech Agreement Form are included in this How To Guide.
Students are expected to bring their device with them to class, charged and ready to use. All students will receive documentation on maintaining their device, keeping it safe, practicing digital citizenship and meeting any school specific requirements for digital learning. To protect against potential damage, we offer an optional insurance plan.
Tech4All is not just a program; it's a commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering our students to thrive in the digital age. We Trust You to take care of your device and use it to open up possibilities in your educational journey. Together, we will embark on a transformative educational experience that prepares our students for a future filled with innovation and opportunity.
