Sooth.fyi and News-o-matic Updates for all
Sooth.fyi is live now...CCs must check emails from Sooth to make it work
Some folks are confused about a Sooth "trial", so please read on...
- WSWHE SLS purchased Sooth.fyi for all districts, available now and for the foreseeable future. It's a product for grades 6 and up. (It is not a trial.)
- One CC in each district has gotten emails from Sooth saying, "Someone has invited you to Sooth!" That CC has to follow the instructions in that email to get the "group" to go live. If that's not you, ask your CCs to make sure someone got it and responded to it.
- A second email to that CC from Sooth says, "Welcome to Sooth.fyi: Group Created and Next Steps". It comes from Luke Kalp, and it's legit. Pass that info on to folks in your district.
- Once a group is created in a district, it works like TeachingBooks ...just sign up with your work email and go. (sign up here) If it says it's a trial, it's not. SLS Payment is in the pipeline.
- Double-check with IT to make sure Sooth isn't being blocked by your district's filters.
- Here is more info if you need it to share with teachers.
- They say that asynchronous training material will be available August 1. Details to follow later.
News-o-matic is also in process
SLS also purchased News-o-matic for everyone. Their onboarding is different, and the ball is in their court at the moment. They have all info on our schools, librarian contacts, and IT contacts.
- News-o-matic emailed us yesterday to say that they have a meeting with their "SSO partners" tomorrow (Wednesday May 21) to coordinate everything.
- They will keep us updated as they move forward with setting everyone up. Stay tuned. We will share more info as it becomes available.
