Dear Panther Families,

Happy February! Here at Price we are staying dry and learning a lot, including benevolence, thanks to the great efforts by our National Junior Honor Society students, families, and teachers. Of their own volition, the NJHS students initiated a bake sale and baked a mountain of delicious treats to help raise funds for those impacted by the Southern California wildfires. Foregoing their precious lunch and brunch time, they sold these baked good for three days and raised $1,638 for the Red Cross. We are so proud of our NJHS Panthers and all of our Panthers who bought the baked goods. We are truly a philanthropic community and we are truly grateful.

Not only are our Panthers kind and generous, they are also great athletes. Thanks to our amazing coach, Julie Johnston, our 8th grade Girls Basketball team won the championship on Wednesday. Oh, but that's not all. These girls, under the tutelage of Coach Johnston have gone undefeated for 3 years in a row! That's right! They are 33-0! Congratulations to an outstanding group of student athletes and their extraordinary coach.

With the incoming presidential administration, the education community in Santa Clara County, including Cambrian School District, affirms its commitment to protecting students and families regardless of their citizenship status. Here are some helpful resources as we navigate this challenging issue:

• The SCCOE has compiled this resource guide to support local education agencies receiving requests for information about what families can do to prepare in case a parent or other family member is detained or deported by immigration agents.
• The State of California has an online immigration resource website.
• Immigrant Resources from the CA Attorney General’s office, available in English and Spanish

Hopefully these resources will help us as we move forward. We are committed to every student and family in the Cambrian School District.

Join Valley Sports at Price's Winter/Spring After School Sports Program! Students will play Basketball, Soccer, and/or Volleyball that will focus on skill and team development. Multi-Sport games will be a mix of our camper favorite middle school summer camp games, such as Hula Hut Throwdown, Capture the Flag, Dodgeball, Tennis Baseball, etc. This fun program is FREE for all girls and boys at Price in grades 6th-8th grade. Classes will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 3:00 - 4:30. Session dates will be January 21st - May 22nd (16 weeks). This class is great for all levels of athleticism, and will also focus on sportsmanship, building confidence, making friends, and of course FUN! Verification of home address that will be required of all incoming students. Per CUHSD Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 5111.1, all incoming 9th grade families will be required to provide evidence of home address to complete entry to CUHSD schools.

Submission deadline is April 25 2025.

Options for submitting your documents:

• By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
  
• By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.

• Talk about the importance of showing up to school every day.

• Help your children maintain daily routines, such as finishing homework and getting a good night’s sleep.
• Try not to schedule dental and non-urgent related medical appointments during the school day.
• Keep your student healthy, and if you are concerned about Covid-19, call your school for advice.
• If your children must stay home because they are sick, make sure they have asked teachers for resources and materials to make up for the missed learning time in the classroom.

Thank you to everyone for continuing to help keep all of our students safe on their way to and home from school. Just as a reminder to continue to follow all of the parking lot safety measures to ensure all of our students and families are safe.
