Families:
I can’t believe September is over already! I am wondering where our fall weather is, though.
It was great seeing students come in on picture day! It is always fun to have a face to go with a name. Fourth and fifth grade families, you have math practice books waiting for you in our office! We apologize for not remembering to give them to you when you came in for pictures.
Middle school students taking 2D art, we have art kits for you as well!
Shout out to all of our students for our awesome completion rates on iReady math and reading assessments! We had much higher completion this year than in years past. I LOVE IT!
At-home learning coaches, please see the section of this newsletter for some very important reminders about online learning! We are halfway through through the first quarter and we want to make sure we are establishing academic routines!
Super high-fives to 6th graders Michael R, Juliettee B, Ethan G, and Isaiah R for being on-pace or ahead of pace in one or more of their Edgenuity classes! Way to go!
As always, thank you for partnering with us in providing your child with a different learning opportunity. We are off to a great start this year, and we couldn’t do that without our awesome students, their incredible families, our excellent teachers, and MOA’s exceptional support staff. It takes a whole team!
Sincerely,
Natosha Savage

Reminders About Online Learning
- Online school is not LESS school: it is school done differently!
Students should expect to spend at least an hour per class on school work daily! This means time in class in the morning and time outside of class.
A full school day is 6-8 hours of learning time daily. The Oregon Department of Education considers each online class to equal one hour of educational time.
Including advisory, students have five live classes a day. This is only 5 hours of recorded educational time if the student works outside of live sessions.
To make a complete day, we have to assign classes in Edgenuity.
Health and PE are legally mandated requirements for all students. This is why some grade levels are assigned these courses in Edgenuity while others take 1-2 electives.
Next semester, students in electives will be assigned health and PE, while those that pass health and PE this semester will be given an elective.
Help session times are available every afternoon! Any student that is struggling with schoolwork should attend help session. The links are on each teacher’s advisory Canvas page. Our help session teachers can assist with any subject!
Please make sure your student has started, and is making progress in, the class(es) assigned to them in Edgenuity.
Students access Edgenuity from HelloID

Title I Annual Meeting
What is Title I?
Title I-A funds provide all children an opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education. Title I-A financial assistance is provided to districts and schools who serve a larger population of children from families experiencing poverty. By providing additional resources, the program is intended to ensure that all students have access to academically enriching curriculum and meet the state’s challenging academic standards.
