Corinth CARE Committee News
The CARE Committee is excited to share that we are once again able to offer Winter Gear to our
Pre K - 6th grade children. The CARE Committee encourages and supports our students' desire and need to be outside playing during our long months of winter!
With the support of Saratoga Casino Hotel Foundation, the Women In Need organization of Lake George, NY Laborers Union and the CARE Committee, we will be hosting a "Winter Gear Shop" on November 25th and 26th during parent teacher conference times at the Elementary School.
We will have a select number of winter coats, snow pants and boots that parents can shop from. All gear will be of no cost. Parents will be asked to confirm that Winter Gear is for Corinth Elementary School students only and that the need is not being met through holiday requests.
We are excited to share this generosity with many of our students and encourage outside play this winter!
If you would like to donate to the CARE Committee, a 501c non profit organization- they can be found on Venmo at @CorinthCARE or checks can be mailed to Kerry Giumarra, CARE President at 105 Oak Street, Corinth NY 12822.

A Letter from Our Literacy Coach
My name is Jess Robinson, and I am the Literacy Coach and AIS reading teacher at Corinth Elementary School! A little about me… I am a mom of three. I have boy-girl twins that are 14 years-old, and an 18-year-old son. We also have two crazy dogs! I love running, hiking, skiing, and adventuring outdoors with my family. This is my fourth year as our school’s literacy coach. Prior to this, I taught first grade for 15 years, and fourth grade for 2 years. I absolutely love playing a role in the magic of learning to read!
You have an important role in helping your child learn to read as well! Here are some simple tips and activities you can do at home:
Let your child see you reading and using it as a skill!
If your children are just beginning to read, encourage them to listen for rhyming words in songs or poems
Talk about books you read to them-ask them questions about what you read and incorporate new words from the book into your conversations.
If you have older children, enlist their help in having them read a new recipe, or read to a younger sibling.
Encourage your child to write notes to friends and loved ones
Here is a great article on the benefits and importance of reading to your child:

A Letter from Our Math Coach
Hello Corinth Families,
I am Nicole Griffiths, the Math Coach and AIS Math teacher at Corinth Elementary School! This is my first year in this role and I am very excited for the opportunity to be working with our youngest learners. Prior to this position, I taught sixth grade Math for six years in Corinth. My very first teaching position was in Hawaii where I lived for a couple of years when my husband was stationed there with the Navy. I have four sons: 21, 19, 17 and 15 and enjoy golfing with them any chance I get. I also enjoy hiking, biking, running and being outside when it's not super cold.
I am excited to help students develop their mathematical reasoning skills this year, by working to strengthen their numeracy and fluency. Any support at home is greatly appreciated.
This can be done by doing things such as:
Talk about how many bowls to put out for dinner
Fold napkins in different shapes
Have your child count similar items as you put away groceries
Have your child help measure ingredients for recipes
Give your child change to count out to pay for small purchases at the store; have older children calculate the change
Ask your child to compare prices of items by asking things like, “Which can of beans costs more?”
Allow your child to weigh the fresh produce; have older children calculate the price by multiplying the price per pound by the number of pounds
Read the days and dates on a calendar, talk about the number of days in the month, the number of days remaining until a special event, etc.
When traveling, write numbers on a grid and have your child color in the box as they see the numbers on signs or license plates
If you have a device with internet access, have your child show you, “First in Math."
Should you have any questions or if you would like further resources, please feel free to contact me at griffithsn@corinthcsd.org.

Monthly Choose Kindness Lesson: Inclusion
What is Inclusion?
“We are all different and that’s a great thing. Inclusion is
making sure everyone from all walks of life feel accepted. It’s
key in creating a culture of kindness!”
—Jimmer Fredette
Inclusion means the act of including, inviting, and welcoming others with open arms. Have you ever been left out? How did it make you feel? Have you ever asked to join a game and the other children said no, or worse, they laughed at you? It would be better to use kind words and fairness to include others as it makes them feel good inside. Including others is a choice that you make every day. Remember, when we only choose our favorite friends and leave out others, we are being unfair. We are not practicing inclusiveness. Inclusion is knowing the differences of others and still actively getting along.
• How can you show inclusiveness on the bus?
• How can you show fairness on the playground?
• How can you show inclusiveness at home?

Student Health Services
Our district has partnered with Saratoga Hospital to offer a Student Health Services initiative. An advanced practice provider will be available in our district to offer FREE medical care for all students. Some of their services will include: care for minor injuries and illnesses; mental health consultation; acute care prescription medication; and sports physicals. These professionals will share their time between the Elementary School and the Oak Street campus.
In order for students to take advantage of this great opportunity, parents/guardians must sign and return the consent form to their building principal. If you would like to learn more about this service, please follow this link to a recording of our presentation from December 6th, 2022. The Google Slide presentation is also available here. Should you have questions regarding this service, please call 518-654-9005 or 518-654-2960 Extension, 3446.

2nd Grade Walking Field Trip
Second Graders learned all about communities and people who live and work there. They took a walk around the community to learn about Corinth history and different businesses that provide goods and services. Rocco’s, who provides goods for the community, graciously donated a slice of pizza each to our second graders! Thank you Rocco's!
