Habit Huddle: Habit #1 Be Proactive
I am a responsible person.
I choose my ACTIONS, ATTITUDES, MOODS.
I do NOT blame others for my wrong actions.
I do the right thing without being asked even when no one is looking.
It’s vital to teach kids to take responsibility for their own lives, for their own fun or boredom, for their own happiness or unhappiness.
What can you do to teach your child to be responsible for his/herself?
1. Do something nice for someone else. Make a card, draw a picture, clean up.
2. Try doing something today that you’ve been scared to do that will be helpful. Make a new friend, raise your hand in class, or wash the dishes.
3. The next time you get mad and want to say something mean or rude don’t say it and think of staying quiet or smile, or say something kind.
4. If you do something wrong, say you’re sorry before someone asks you to apologize.
5. Be responsible. Get ready for school on your own; pack your own lunchbox.
→Send in a photo of your child doing these things at home and we will feature some of them in the next issue of the Crocodilian. Email the photo along with the student’s name, teacher, and grade to Katye Wilkinson at kwilkinson@lexrich5.org by September 15th.

PBIS Corner
We hope this message finds you well! At H.E. Corley, we are committed to creating a positive and supportive learning environment for all our students through our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program.
To ensure that our students understand the expectations we have for behavior, we encourage you to take a moment to review our school's PBIS matrix. This matrix outlines the key behaviors we expect from our students in various settings throughout the school, including the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, and playground.
Why is this important?
Clarity of Expectations: The PBIS matrix provides clear guidelines on what is expected of students in different situations, helping them to understand how to behave appropriately.
Consistent Reinforcement: By reviewing the matrix together at home, you can reinforce these expectations, which supports our efforts to promote positive behavior at school.
Building a Supportive Community: When parents and teachers work together, it creates a stronger community and fosters a positive school climate.
You can view the PBIS matrix on our school website or obtain a printed copy from the front office.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students thrive!
