Keeping Us Connected Throughout the School Year
THIS WEEK AT WASHINGTON OAK
- We had another busy week at Washington Oak. There was lots of learning going on and we were once again entertained by some talented performers. This week it was chorus, grade 4 , who added in recorders, and grade 3 singing I Won't Grow Up from Peter Pan. Monday is our final day and chorus will be singing You Can Count on Me.
- Teachers in grades 3, 4, & 5 completed the RICAS infrastructure with their students using the new platform so that they will know to use the tools.
- RICS testing begins this week with ELA testing. Please make every effort to have your child arrive at school on time. Eating a good breakfast will also help maintain their stamina. If you have any questions about the testing please let us know. All students in grades 3-5 will participate in the testing.
- It is official, thanks to you support and participation our family surveys are at 57%! We are still waiting to see what the students suggest and will let you know once we do. There is still time to complete the survey as the deadline has been extended to April 4th. Please let us know if oyu complete it so that we may enter your child into the drawings.
- For those families who signed up for Martial Arts classes, they begin this Friday, April 4th.

Parking Reminders
As our weather is warming up the ground is getting softer and more muddy, especially on the side of the building for preschool and the far lot. Please make every effort to park in a parking spot (not on the yellow curb), as we have had a couple cars get stuck in the mud recently. Park at your own risk.
WASHINGTON OAK SPIRITWEAR
If you have not already done so, don't forget to use your coupon code and order something for your child from the spiritwear shop. New items will be added periodically and others will go on sale. It is great seeing so much of it around the building !
SURVEYWORKS
It is hard to believe, but it is that time of the year again when we ask that you please take the time to participate in SurveyWorks. We appreciate you taking the time to do this. We use the results of these to guide our school goals for the following year. You can complete a survey for each student that attends. Don't forget to send in the screenshot when you have completed the survey so your student can be entered in our drawings.
RICAS TESTING INFORMATION
It is hard to believe that RICAS has arrived. Here is the schedule so that you can try to work any appointments around your child's testing days. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

WHY ATTENDANCE MATTERS

Nurse's News
If your child is sick please reach out to the nurse and let her know. We understand that each illness does not warrant a doctor visit.
If a child has COVID symptoms they will need to be picked up.
(Testing requirements will be provided prior to school).
GI symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea require dismissal and your child must be free of symptoms for at least 24 hours prior to return to school.
A fever is defined as 100.4 degrees or higher and a student must be fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of fever reducing medicines like Tylenol or Ibuprofen in order to return to school.
If your student tests positive-they will need to stay home for at least 5 days from either symptom onset or the test date if they were asymptomatic.
They may return when symptoms have improved and have had no fever for 24 hours (without the use of any medicine)
They will need to wear a well fitting mask when they return through day 10.
Please report all test results to the school nurse.
Teachers have been given a letter to share with you if your child's class has a severe nut allergy and must remain peanut and tree free. Please remember that they may have it in the lunchroom.
