Welcome Back Dragons!

We are in the midst of prepping for another fantastic school year here at McNeil Canyon Elementary. We are excited to see all the new and returning dragons for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 21st. Below you will find some important information and links that will set you and your student/students up for a great start of school.

School Ends @ 2:50 pm

Early Release Days - School Ends @ 1:20 pm

If you haven't done so already, all returning students will need the online registration forms completed by a parent.

Below is a link that will take you to the Parent Portal.

1. Sign in or create your parent account

2.Check to make sure your student or students are listed. If not, click add student.

3. Click on "+ add form". Make sure to add each form that is listed (except for the Senior Survey or forms from another school year).

4. Once you have assigned the forms for your student click on " continue ".

this will take you through the forms for each student you have listed.

For our returning families that do not live in our school area. If you haven't done so already, please make sure to complete the below form asap and either send them to your area school (Paul Banks K-2nd or West Homer 3rd-6th) for approval or email them to Joy at joverson@kpbsd.k12.ak.us for processing. We MUST have these as part of your student's 2024-25 registration. If you have questions, please call the school at (907)235-8181. Thank you!

We are requesting that our parents of Kindergarten through 3rd grade and new student parents email our secretary, Joy Overson, by Tuesday, August 20th at joverson@kpbsd.k12.ak.us with their student's bus or parent pick up plan. This will help eliminate any confusion for your child and their teacher at the end of the school day. Thank you!

***If your student is riding the bus for the first time or has a change to their previous school year bus stop, please call First Student at 907-235-0124 to let them know***

***A reminder for our parents of out-of-area students: we will not know if a bus is available for your students until two weeks after school has started. Apple Bus will notify us then if they can accommodate our out-of-area students.***

Just a reminder to our parents of new kindergarteners and/or new students to McNeil, please make sure to get your student's school physical form, birth certificate and immunization records to the front office by the first day of school if you haven't done so already. You can also email them to Joy at joverson@kpbsd.k12.ak.us.

Parents are welcome to drop off school supplies between the hours of 1:00 - 3:00 on Tuesday, August 20th to make the first day of school as easy as possible. The teachers have placed bins outside their classrooms for these supplies. Thank you!

We love our volunteers at McNeil Canyon Elementary! You are what helps make McNeil so special. If you haven't filled out the 2024-25 Volunteer Application yet, please click the link below. You must have an approved application before you can volunteer in the school or join a class field trip. The approval process can take up to two weeks so don't miss out! It is school specific so make sure and check the box for McNeil Canyon Elementary. If you have any questions, please call Joy at 235-8181.
