Bernice Young Elementary School February 3
New Information
February is here! Students will be bringing home information about enrollment for next year. Please complete and return to school by February 28.
We need your help! If you are dropping off on the side in the morning, please do not drive through the bus lane but turn left before the bus lane to exit the parking lot. We have our PK students crossing to come into the building and we want everyone safe.
We still need a few more thank you cards for staff members. Please complete this form to thank a staff member that you LOVE working at Young Elementary? Let us know! Tell us why!! Let's celebrate things we love in the month of February.
Planning ahead? No school on Monday, February 17th due to teacher work day.
Nurse Information
Flu season is in full swing! Please help keep our Yellowjackets safe: wash hands often and keep students home if they are sick. If they have fever, they must be fever-free without the use of medication for 24 hours before they can return to school.
Tips from the Counselor- Career Awareness
Elementary school is not too early to start teaching your child about career awareness. Making career decisions is a lifelong process about exploring and experiencing the world of work. It is important for your child to become aware of how his or her education is connected to a successful future.
While in Elementary school, you can help your child:
Discover the variety of jobs available to him or her
Connect what he/she is learning in school to real-world situations
Imagine him/herself in an occupation
Develop work-readiness skills such as working and playing with others, making decisions, solving problems, and being a leader!
Discuss different skills and interests your child has and relate them to certain jobs. For example, a reporter needs writing skills to create newspaper articles or blogs.
By talking with your child about the link between school and careers, you will help your child understand that school is important and that school success can open doors to his or her career.
Also- Happy School Counselor Week! We LOVE Mrs. Nelson!
