A Reading From The Gospel for Sunday, December 11, 2022
When John heard in prison what the Messiah was doing, he sent word by his Disciples and said to him , “Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?”
Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see:the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the poor have good news brought to them. And blessed is anyone who takes no offence at me”
As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “This is the one about whom it is written, ‘See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’Truly I tell you, among those born of women no one has arisen greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
The Gospel of the Lord.

Basket of Blessings
Once again this Advent, École OLPH School & EICS are continuing to partner with Catholic Social Services to support women and children at Lurana Shelter.
Please take a moment to watch this beautiful video https://vimeo.com/660535934
During the season of Advent, we are challenging École OLPH School to raise enough to purchase 10 Baskets (Each basket is about $100.)
Let's see if we can raise enough to purchase more than 10 baskets!
To donate, please click on the link below: https://www.canadahelps.org/me/n9z5AWku
Every little donation adds up to a large donation for Lurana Shelter.
Students can also bring in cash, in a clearly marked envelope or Ziploc with their name and homeroom to Mme Winland in the school office.
Let us open our hearts to help the women and children at the Lurana Shelter!!! We truly are Better Together!!!
God Bless
One Day - Food Bank Drive
On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, École OLPH will be hosting a one day Food Bank Drive for the Strathcona County Food Bank.
Each class is being asked to bring in specific items of some of the most highly needed items. (see list below) Our goal is to raise at least 364 items, that's only one item per student. Together we can make a difference!!!
We are very thankful to those who are able to participate during this Christmas Season. We also recognize that times are difficult for many of our families, but if you are able to make a donation it would be greatly appreciated.
Many of these items can be purchased at discount stores such as Dollar Tree and Dollarama (who carry many name brand products) or if you shop at Save-On Foods on Wye Road, be sure to send your receipts to Mme Winland for our School Council.
Thank you for your generous donations.
God Bless.

Reporting School Absences
Dear Parents,
As you have no doubt been watching and experiencing, Alberta has been suffering from high rates of RSV, Influenza and COVID-19.
We want to thank you for making the right choice to keep your children home when they are experiencing symptoms.
In order to help us have the best possible data and communicate with Alberta Health Services if required, we would ask that you report any flu or cold like symptom under the FLU heading in the School Messenger App.
Using Safe Arrival, parents can report:
- FLU - Illness due to flu and cold like symptoms
- ILL - Other illness or injury.
- EXC - Parent Excused (i.e. taking your child on a holiday)
Thanks for your attention to this matter, as always, we are working hard to ensure that all students and staff remain safe.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) Survey - Childhood Immunizations
Alberta Health Services understands that there is a lot of information available to Albertans about immunization. This can be stressful and confusing for parents and guardians.
AHS would like to hear from Alberta families about routine childhood immunization for children newborn to age 15 years. We want to talk to you about your thoughts, ideas, concerns, and opinions on immunizations, particularly for your children.
Please share your thoughts by completing the survey below by December 31, 2022.
