EVERY Wayland Union School student is automatically eligible to receive FREE MEALS at school! This includes one FREE breakfast and one FREE lunch each school day!
Last school year, the Wayland Union School District set a district record by serving 489,730 FREE meals to students!! Our dedicated Food Service Staff is already on pace to surpass that number this school year! WOW!
FREE meals continue to benefit so many students and families in our district! Not only do parents save the financial cost of meals each time their student(s) has breakfast or lunch at school, but they also save the time of buying, preparing, and packaging a breakfast and lunch from home for their student(s).
Families that had students utilize the FREE breakfast and FREE lunch each day of school last year saved about $900 in food costs PER STUDENT! Encourage your students to take advantage of this wonderful benefit so your family can save time and money as well!

This FREE MEAL benefit does NOT include a la carte purchases, entrée-only purchases, milk-only purchases, or second-meal purchases. These items will be charged to student lunch accounts and students need to have payment rendered either through available credit from their lunch account or via cash payment at the time of purchase. No student accounts will be allowed to go negative.
The FREE & REDUCED PRICE MEAL PROGRAM is a federally funded program that allows students of eligible households to receive benefits including FREE or REDUCED-cost meals at school, EBT assistance, reduced testing fees, and more!
Applying for this program is optional, but all families are encouraged to apply by completing an EDUCATION BENEFITS FORM. Eligibility is based on household size and income level.

Middle School students started school with a new look to their cafeteria spaces! The serving area received a face-lift and updated equipment! The new equipment and layout will allow for better lunch traffic flow and ease of accessing meal items. Additionally, there's a new Kitchen Manager at the Middle School! Mrs. Miller has been with the Middle School kitchen staff for several years and is excited to step into this role after the retirement of Mrs. Adams last year! Welcome, Mrs. Miller!!
The High School kitchen also received some updated appliances, including new Air Fry Ovens. Food Service Director Scott Larson stated, "The new ovens are state-of-the-art Air Fryers! They will allow the kitchen staff to prepare items that would have traditionally been fried, in a quicker and healthier way! This opens the possibility of adding new food items to the menu as well!"
