Third Grade Robotics!
Wascher third graders traveled to the Evergreen Space Museum today to put their robots through their paces at a jamboree. The event is part of the third grade Science Experiences made possible by the McMinnville Education Foundation.
Students have been building and programming the robots for the past weeks to prepare them for the final competitive test of their skills. All elementary schools will have a turn with the robot kits, which will be cleaned, packed up and moved to Memorial next!
See the MSD Facebook page for more photos.

College and Career Week
This week, the high school sponsored a week of visits by various universities, which offered tutorials on how to complete the application process for their schools. There was also a session on how to create a FSA ID to apply for financial aid and visits from military recruiters and a local employment service.
On Monday, Portland State University kicked off the week and instantly accepted the applications of 18 students, (including the two pictured)!
Milk Service in Schools
Due to a local supply issue, school milk service may need to be supplemented with juice and/or water in cafeterias for lunch and breakfast bags in the morning.
Buel’s Coffee Brigade
Mattie Bunch’s class at Buel has started a small business venture to help students learn about handling money and customer interaction.
Twice a month, the Bunch O’ Coffee crew delivers drinks and treats to teachers who pre-order the service. Way to go, Huskies!
Saving for the Future
MSD partners with the Oregon College Savings Plan to help families start thinking about life after high school – starting in kindergarten. The tax-deductible plan allows families to save for educational expenses like tuition and fees, books, computers, supplies, equipment and more. The plan isn’t just for four-year college attendance; students can use the funds for certificate programs, community college, apprenticeships, technical college, trade school and graduate school.
And families with kindergartners can open an account and get a $25 deposit to get the account going!
Compliance Report
Each year, the MSD reports to the School Board on its annual report, “Assurances of Compliance with Public School Standards.” Click for more info and the 2023-24 report.
