ππ½ Important Reminders
Tardies
- School begins at 8:00 a.m. Students are expected to be in their classes at this time. If a student arrives at school after 8:00 a.m., he/she must be checked in at the front office by the parent or guardian.
- Students who wish to eat breakfast need to arrive to school by 7:45 to ensure they are in the classroom by 8:00 and do not receive a tardy.
- If a student is late three consecutive school days, or for a total of 5 times per month, or 7 times a grading period, a notice will be sent home to schedule a conference with the principal to discuss the reasons for the continued tardiness. If this does not alleviate the problem then the tardiness will be considered as neglect, and the case will be referred to the school social worker.
- The following disciplinary actions will be administered for unexcused tardies to class:
- First unexcused tardy β Verbal warning and explanation of tardy policy.
- Second unexcused tardy β Parent meeting
- Third unexcused tardy β 1 day of after-school detention.
- Fourth unexcused tardy β 5 days of after-school detention.
- Five or more unexcused tardies β 1 day of alternative school setting.
Attendance
- Students who have consecutive unexcused absences totaling five or more will receive a letter and notice to appear in Early Warning Court.
- Students having eighteen (18) or more absences, whether excused or unexcused, will be considered chronically absent due to the new state requirements. Every absence must be explained in writing. Parental excuses are limited to four days (4) per semester. For example, if your child is absent for four days there will be a note required for each day the student is absent. After the four parental notes are exhausted, a doctorβs note must be presented for the absence to be excused
-
NO EXCUSES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE THIRD DAY THE STUDENT HAS RETURNED TO SCHOOL
As part of our attendance campaign, we have a friendly competition going on amongst homeroom classes. Each day teachers get to add a sticker (toppings) to their pizza if everyone in their class is present. At the end of the week the winning class or classes received prizes. This past week the prize was a popsicle party.
Ms. Presley's Kindergarten class had the best attendance this week and were rewarded with a popsicle party.
It pays to have perfect attendance!
Check out our I-Ready Scoreboard from last week!
Total Number of I-Ready Reading Lessons passed this week by Homeroom!
Each week the total number of lessons in each homeroom is totaled to see who is in the lead!
Total Number of I-Ready Math Lessons passed this week by Homeroom!
Mr. Holyfield has set a goal for students to pass two lessons in reading and two lessons in math each week.
Learning is FUN!
This week students in Mrs. Turbyfill's fourth grade class took part in a math walk around the room. The students worked in groups to find answers to round numbers.
