Principal's Message
It has been an exciting week at PRT! All of our fall sports had their first competitions - congratulations to all! The PRT band, cheer team and dance team did a tremendous job today at the neighborhood march. The students at Meadow Lane loved seeing the Huskies (and the Ravens)! The Huskies are certainly ready for the Old Settlers Day parade tomorrow. PRT is #23 so very early in the parade. We hope to see many of you there!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Athletic Event Student Expectations
We are excited to kick off fall sports competitions next week! Here is a review of expectations at after school events:
• PRT has a proud “Howlin’ Huskies” student section that is open for all PRT Students.
• At athletic events, students are expected to sit in the student section or with their family.
• Students are expected to watch and be engaged during the game – your phone is primarily put away and not a distraction.
• Students are allowed to use the restroom before the game and also during halftime at football or between matches in volleyball.
• Only Positive Cheers and Comments towards those competing.
• As per KSHSAA & PRT expectations, no booing or yelling at opposing teams or officials.
• Create a positive experience for all spectators.
• Students are allowed a one-time entry at events. Once students leave the event, they may not return. For example, students may not come to volleyball, leave and walk to Buddy’s, then come back to the game again.
• Cost is $1 for students or show their purchased Go Fan card.
• All athletic events begin at 3:45 unless specially noted and usually end by 5:00/ 5:30.
• Students must be picked up within 15 minutes of the conclusion of the event.

We will also provide students with resources available 24/7 for help, such as 988 *crisis hotline*
and the Johnson County Mental Health Hotline: 1-855-800-1239.
If you need additional information or resources, please reach out to the PRT Counselors.
High School Pathways Fair
On Tuesday, September 17th all 8th grade students will attend the High School Pathways Fair at Johnson County Community College (JCCC). Students will be leaving Prairie Trail at 11:35 and return to school by 12:45pm that day. Please try to avoid scheduling appointments during this time.
This annual event gives students advanced insights into the incredible career pathway options available through the Olathe Schools beginning in high school. This is a great way for the students to gain information about a wide variety of course and program offerings by engaging with high school students currently in those programs from all five high schools and the Olathe Advanced Technical Center (OATC).
Historically, students have responded very positively to this event. They find it to be a fun, engaging field trip that gives them an opportunity to learn about the great career pathway options available. Since students will need to make decisions about different pathways of interest before winter break of their 8th grade year, this event allows students to begin considering which programs are the best fit for them.
To help our students prepare for this event, counselors are visiting classrooms to help them determine careers or career pathways of interest and sharing with them the expectations for the Career Pathways Fair. We will be asking our students to conduct themselves in a professional manner and encouraging them to dress in school spirit wear the day of the event.
For more information about the available career pathways, see the diagram on page 2 and visit Olathe Career Pathways at: https://www.olatheschools.org/careerpathways
**If you would prefer your child not attend Career Expo on September 17th, please contact Ariel Brown. (arlbrown@olatheschools.org) by 9:00am on Monday, September 16th. **
