Wildcat Newsletter
December 11th, 2024
Dear Families,
We have found that our Wildcats love to vote! We used a rank choice voting form to help select the movie for this Friday’s Movie Night. This time around, there was a clear winner with 64% of the first choice votes; The Wild Robot. Perhaps you can join other Woodlawn families at 6 PM for this highly anticipated movie night.
One of the points of data that we collect during the Run for Woodlawn is the “most laps run” in the two grade groups, K-2nd and 3rd-5th. This year, those two students will have the opportunity to be Principal for a Day. From the K-2nd group, Scout, a second grader, was the winner with 18 laps; in the 3rd-5th group Evie, a fourth grader with 21 laps was the winner. These two students will be Principal for a Day in the week before winter break.
On the back page of this week’s newsletter, we are asking if you want the regular Wednesday newsletter in paper. We recognize that we asked this in September but we wanted to ask again, to make sure we were catching all of our newer families. We have noticed that about 40% of our students’ families have not connected via Remind.
Remind is the platform that PPS is using to convey information. It is the platform that Woodlawn teachers are using. It is the platform that our office communications are sent through. You really should have a Remind account. Regardless of your choice about the Wednesday newsletter, you should have a Remind account. You can refer to the directions below to get signed up.
See the back page to complete a request for the weekly newsletter in paper.

Counseling Lessons for the month of December 2024
Dear families,
This month we are starting our Gratitude unit with our Slumberkins® friend Honey Bear. Honey Bear teaches students about gratitude. This topic is important to support students in building feelings of happiness and appreciation for the people and things around them.
During these lessons your student will:
• Listen to Honey Bear’s Story, “Honey Bear, I’m Grateful For You.”
• Learn how to show gratitude to others.
• Write letters of gratitude to others and read them out loud.
Thank you,
Carissa Marquis, School Counselor

Did you miss the chance to donate on Giving Tuesday?
The Woodlawn Resilience Fund accepts donations year round.
In 2020, the Woodlawn PTA established the Resilience Fund to support students and families in need. Originally created during the pandemic, the fund provides essentials like glasses for students or help with utility bills. Since its launch, the PTA has raised over $25,000, thanks to generous community donations.
