IGLLS Lunch Concert Tuesday @ 10:40

Congrats to everyone for a beautiful MS Winter Concert last week. The 5th Graders had a great "First Concert" and each of the bands presented some very nice selections to put everyone into the holiday spirit.

Our IGLLS Lunch Concert will be on TUESDAY at 10:40. All are welcome to come listen as we play holiday songs during lunch. The band will not be playing at the IGLLS Grade 4-8 Christmas program on Dec. 19.

Lessons will finish on Dec. 16. No lessons Dec. 17-20 to allow the kids to rehearse for their Christmas concert. Lessons will resume after break on Jan. 6.

As a way to thank the band students for playing at lunch, we will be getting mini-pizzas from Godfather's for them. We are getting them at a special rate of $3.00. As your budget allows, please send in your pizza money with your child. I'll send back a receipt to show I received it. Please understand ALL BAND STUDENTS will get a pizza - so don't worry if this isn't in your holiday budget.

I will be sending out Band Invoices this weekend. If you don't receive one, your balance is under $50. As I say, pay as your budget allows. It is truly a pleasure to share God's gift of music with your children. Thank you for all of your encouragement at home - it REALLY makes a difference.

Practice Tip:

Use a song from our Christmas band books for your warm-up! Kids can keep them over the holiday break so they can have fun playing them at home to keep their lips in shape. Please have them return them to me when they are done with them so I can use them again next year.

In addition to teaching private music lessons at IGLLS, I am a bus driver for the Spencer Schools, serve as chair of the Spencer ADA Council, direct the choir at Christ the King Lutheran and am a part-time janitor at Spencer Middle School. In my free time I enjoy reading, walking, biking, cooking and keeping up with my siblings Sue in Loveland, CO and David in Forest City.

My parents were both music educators. My brother and sister-in-law are band directors in Forest City, IA. My grandfathers were both ministers in the Presbyterian and Methodist churches.

Music has always been a part of my life and its fun to share this gift with our young people at IGLLS so they can add their praises to our Loving Lord in song.
