5th graders interested in band for 2025 - 2026
Dear Prospective Toll Gate Middle School Band Parents,
We are very excited to work with you and help your child get started on their musical adventure!
Today we had a great time demonstrating the instruments of the band to all TGMS 5th Graders!!
On Monday, March 3, 2025, your child will have the opportunity to try band instruments and select an instrument that will be a good fit for them. This will occur during the school day.
On Tuesday, March 4, at 7pm, we will hold a virtual parent meeting to discuss what band is all about and answer any questions you might have. The link is below:

Band Fast Facts
- Band is available to ALL students.
- Kids have tons of fun while learning about music.
- No prior musical experience is necessary.
(Most kids have not played any instruments before joining band)
- Band is during the school day.
- There are no after-school practices, all instruction occurs during the school day.
What is a fitting session?
- It is a chance for kids to explore different instruments with the guidance of band teachers.
- It is a chance to meet the teachers and learn more about all of the fun opportunities.
- It is NOT a try-out. No prior experience is necessary; we will teach you everything you need to know.
- Students will have the opportunity to try band instruments and pick the instrument that fits them best.

Every student should have a great time learning how to play a band instrument! Through participation in band, students will learn about music, gain valuable life skills, develop creativity, and have fun making music with friends!
