Bristol Township School District
October 2023
Letter from the Superintendent
Dear Bristol Township School Community,
I hope today finds you and your family well and enjoying a positive and beneficial school year as we make our way into November. The Phillies broke our hearts, but the play of the Eagles certainly brings hope and optimism as we move further into autumn.
Since our last newsletter, we have enjoyed many neat and positive events as the school year begins to get into full swing.
Some memorable highlights include our Elementary Family Engagement nights, which continue with Keystone’s on November 9, Armstrong raising over $1,600 during Breast Cancer Awareness Week, Red Ribbon Week activities throughout our schools and Truman’s Homecoming and Spirit Week activities.
We have also had a number of events and professional development endeavors designed to build an engaged, positive and harmonious school culture and promote student achievement. These will continue with our professional development days in November.
I wanted to highlight something special from each building in the "Around Our Schools" section of this newsletter, so make sure to check that out.
Best wishes for a wonderful November as we head into the holiday season.
Sincerely,
Michael Nitti
Superintendent of Schools

Most recently, the Tiger Marching Band competed at the Kaleidoscope of Bands annual presentation hosted by Neshaminy High School. There, the Tiger Band’s show titled “Heist” brought home an Outstanding rating and two individual caption awards, “Best overall Color Guard” and the “Spirit” award. Way to be Tiger Proud!

Honors Italian 4 Students Win Award
Mr. Patrick Gleeson’s Honors Italian 4 students had the exciting opportunity to participate in a contest held by the America Italy Society (AIS) of Philadelphia that was co-sponsored by the Italian Consulate.
Students in the Philadelphia consulate, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware had the opportunity to compete. Truman students produced videos and poems based off of the works of the famous author and environmentalist, Italo Calvino. They chose to base their project on Marcovaldo, a collection of short stories following a man and his quest to find natural beauty in an increasingly urbanizing world.
Congratulations to the winning group of Truman students: Giovanni Nigro, Joseph Lenio, Juan Pajoy and Stone Reimenschneider. The members of the consulate and AIS all commented on the creativity of the project and how well-thought out and funny it was.
Other winners included students from Sterling High School, Franklin and Marshall College, and the University of Pennsylvania.
“It was amazing and rewarding to see our students being honored next to college students from the University of Pennsylvania for work with the same criteria,” said Gleeson. “I know that each of them is very proud of this accomplishment.”
The winning students were all awarded a certificate from the Consulate and gift cards for an authentic Italian restaurant/cafe in Philadelphia.
Congratulations Board Members!
Three of our Board members were honored by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) for their years of community service, and were presented certificates by PSBA Member Outreach Manager Colin Dempsey.
