Cosmos Community Connections

Dear Camacho Families and Community,
As we prepare to enjoy a well-deserved break, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible partnership we share. It is truly an abundance of blessings to serve as the principal of Camacho Elementary and to work alongside such a caring and committed community. Your involvement—your willingness to engage deeply in the life of our school—makes all the difference. What an incredible week it has been here at Camacho Elementary! My heart is full as I reflect on all the amazing moments we’ve shared—each one a reminder of how special this community truly is.
We kicked off the week with a yummy Thanksgiving luncheon, bringing together food, fun, family, and friends. Seeing our students enjoy this time with loved ones reminded me of how much we have to be thankful for. It was a beautiful celebration of togetherness and gratitude.
Our out-of-this-world book fair, sponsored by our amazing PTA, brought joy and excitement to every corner of our campus. Families shopped together, laughed together, and built memories that will last a lifetime. And how could we forget Stuffies, PJs, and Stories with Mrs. Gonzaba by the fire during our late-night book fair? It was such a joy to connect with our students through the magic of storytelling in a cozy, festive setting.
Our Blast Off Assembly featured two of our incredible students, and their family, The Hoskins, who led us in a celebration of Native American Heritage Month through song and dance. Their poise, talent, and pride in their heritage taught us all something meaningful and profound.
We were also honored that DeWayne Street, Chief of the Office of Educational Access, invited our very own Instructional Assistant Fran Harper to speak about her 17-year journey in LISD and what Native American Heritage Month means to her in his On The Street podcast. What a powerful and moving moment for our campus—it truly left us in awe of her strength, dedication, and wisdom.
This week has been a shining example of the magic that happens when our school, families, and community come together. It’s through your involvement, your support, and your shared commitment to our students that we are able to create these moments of joy and connection. I am so grateful to serve this incredible community, and I deeply value the role you all play in making Camacho a place where every child can thrive.
As we look ahead to the holiday break, I hope you feel the same gratitude and warmth that fills my heart after a week like this. Let us carry this spirit of gratitude forward as we continue to strengthen our partnership and work together toward even greater successes.
Thank you for your continued support, for being such an integral part of our Camacho family
and I look forward to the amazing things we will accomplish together in the months ahead.
Wishing you a wonderful, restful break filled with happiness and renewal.
With a heart full of gratitude,
Wendy Gonzaba
