Mustang Memo January
Nixon-Smiley Middle School
Message from the Principal
NSMS Family,
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with love and rest. Now that our staff and students are recharged and ready to start the year, we are excited to dive into 2025 with renewed energy and purpose.
As we move into the new semester, our goal for this year is growth. At Nixon-Smiley Middle School, we are committed to helping every student, staff member, and family grow in meaningful ways. We believe that growth isn’t just about academic achievement, but also about becoming better people—improving daily in everything we do. Our goal is for every single person at Nixon-Smiley Middle School to be better than they were yesterday. Whether it's improving our grades, learning new skills, or becoming better friends and community members, if we all focus on growth, we will achieve great things together.
If there is anything on your mind, whether it’s a concern, a question, or simply something you’d like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our doors are always open, and we value your input. Whether it’s positive feedback about something we’re doing well or suggestions on how we can improve, your voice is important to us. We are here to make Nixon-Smiley Middle School a place where every child feels supported, valued, and challenged to grow.
Brittany Rogers

What We Will Do: We will provide students with slips of paper or sticky notes where they can write down a pledge to show respect to others in the coming year. These pledges will be displayed in the classroom or hallway as a daily reminder of their commitment to respect and thoughtful behavior.
