February was Black History Month!
Our 2nd SEL Community Day was a hit! Each group learned about important Black historical figures who faced adversity. After a short video containing background information and a question and answer portion, older and younger students paired together to create murals representing their historial figure. It was a fun morning for SEL!
March is Women's History Month!
"How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and "she-roes"!
"Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women."
-both quotes by Maya Angelou

📚 Read Across America 📚
Gibby was WILD about reading during Read Across America Week! Our theme was kicked off with a special visit from author Jerry Pallotta on February 22nd. (Special thanks to the HSA for sponsoring his visit!) Over the past two weeks, students decorated the halls, participated in a RAA Spirit Week, and listened to wonderful books read by guest readers. Our love of reading and celebration of books will continue throughout the month of March with our reading challenge and school-wide reading incentives. Have your child fill out a snake link for each day that he or she reads 15 minutes or more outside of school. Submit completed snake links for the chance to win weekly prizes! Be on the lookout for more updates in our next newsletter!

Miss Bausman and Mrs. Luistro's classes joined together to celebrate Leap Day with some math fun. The classes practiced frog hopping by 1's, leaping on leaves by 2's, floating on a lily pad to count by 5's and playing hop scotch to count by 10's. Even the school resource officer joined in for some fun!
🐣 Change for Chicks Coin Drive 🐣
Help support the Kindergarten and First Grade classes! We are having a coin drive to raise money for an "Egg Hatching" program.
Fertilized eggs will be delivered to our school. The students will be able to see the eggs hatch and watch the chicks grow.
This program is very imformative and enhances our science curriculum. If we want to participate in this program again, it will be necessary for us to raise money to fund it.
A Coin Drive will help to cover the cost. This coin drive will run from Monday, March 4th through Friday, March 29th. Any support would greatly be appreciated. There will be a coin drop in the front office and the Kindergarten and First Grade homerooms.
Thank you in advance for your support!
