Dear SVDP Community,

Last Friday, we completed the first trimester of the 2019-2020 school year! Congratulations! VAPA Fest was a wonderful evening and a fun way to close out the trimester. VAPA stands for Visual Arts and Performing Arts; there was plenty of both to be viewed and experienced during the event! There was a plethora of student art work on display in the school cafeteria and our middle school students entertained the crowds with stagings of Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet, and a quirky musical called Agents of Change.

Many thanks to our art teacher, Ms. Couch, and our drama teachers, Ms. Jenks and Ms. Thompson from Shakespearience, for sharing their talents. Another big thank you to the volunteers of the SVDP Mens Club and Parent Guild for hosting a delicious pasta dinner for all of our attendees. You ROCK!

SVDP Administration

STAR assessments provide teachers with data to guide their instruction and pinpoint areas of growth for our students. STAR assessments are administered four times a year and we just closed our November window. Here are the results: 85% of our students are meeting or exceeding the archdiocesan benchmark for math and 65% of our students are meeting or exceeding the archdiocesan benchmark for reading.

On Friday afternoon, student(s) in 3rd through 8th grade were sent home with a copy of their November Renaissance STAR Benchmark assessment scores. Please keep these documents for your personal reference.

We look forward to reporting on the academic growth that our students achieve throughout the school year.

Your student came home with a Square 1 Art packet. Square 1 Art turned your child's art work into stickers, but you can also order the artwork on many items that will make great keepsakes and Christmas gifts.

Go to the Square1 Art shop and enter your student personal access code.

A portion of each purchase will be donated to the SVDP art program to bring clay and ceramics to our students.

The deadline to order is November 25th.
