CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2023
Our school celebrated May Crowning on May 17th. With our students all dressed up for Mary, the celebration was a fitting tribute to our Blessed Mother. Thank you to our sponsoring first and eighth grade classes and to everyone for making our May Crowning such a memorable event!
Our 8th graders (Class of 2023) trip to Washington, D. C., in participation to the Close-up Program.
We welcome Sr. Merly Gudilosao, a Dominican Sister coming from St. Elizabeth School in Hawaii, who will be our new second grade teacher.
THANK YOU MR. RYAN, SISTER RUTH & DR. COLVILLE
At the end of this school year, we have three staff members leaving our school.
Mr Joe Ryan, our Assistant Principal, is taking on the next challenge of his vocation as a Catholic educator as he takes on the Principalship of All Souls School. Mr. Ryan has been with us for six years as our Math Teacher, Student Council Advisor, Leadership Team Member, and most recently our Assistant Principal.
Sr. Ruth de la Cruz, O.P., our second grade teacher, is heading to Phoenix, Arizona to take on her new mission as Director of Religious Education of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Sr. Ruth joined us at the beginning of this school year.
Dr. Bruce Colville, our counselor, though not completely retiring, has decided to slow down on work next school year. He will still work for All Souls School. Dr. Colville has been our counselor for the past four years.
Our utmost appreciation to all of them for their service to Our Lady of Mercy School. We wish them all the best as they embark on the next phase of their lives / careers.
Tin Gotuaco - KB Teacher

SISTER MARY CLAIRE MAHER, O.P. - Founding Principal of Our Lady of Mercy School
In September 1955, Sister Claire became the founding Principal of Our Lady of Mercy School in the Westlake District of Daly City. Sister Claire, who had a way of speaking her mind, was asked by Henry Doelger, the builder of the Westlake homes, if she could use some books for the library, she said "No, but you could build me a Convent" and he did. Years later when Monsignor Richard Power, Pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Parish, asked what little thing her sisters might want at the convent, Sister Claire asked for a new wing and a chapel. She got her wish.
Sister Claire established long standing Dominican traditions at the new school. She remained the principal until 1963. Sister Claire returned to OLM on November 4, 2012 to help with the ribbon cutting for the new OLM preschool named in her honor - Sister Claire's Preschool.
