Hello, Longwood Families!

This week brought our first very cold school day, but it didn’t stop the incredible learning happening at Longwood!

To celebrate the final week before winter break, our Student Council is hosting a Spirit Week packed with fun! Check out the schedule below and join in the festivities—we can’t wait to see everyone’s creative outfits and holiday cheer!

Caps on for Children’s Cancer will take place on Friday, December 20, 2024.

What does it cost to wear a HAT in school ALL day? $1 minimum donation. Any amounts larger than that are welcome and appreciated.

Why do we do this? On April 7, 2011, Emily Beazley was diagnosed with Stage III T-cell Lymphoblastic Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Emily’s cancer was extremely aggressive, and she bravely battled it three times over four years. Unfortunately, Emily passed away on May 18, 2015, at the age of 12. She dreamed of growing older and starting a foundation that funded research. She named it Kures for Kids. Her best friend was the daughter of Ms. Brown, who taught at Longwood.

🍴🦁 Longwood Restaurant WEEK

This month’s restaurant fundraiser is at Lazy Dog. Every day until Wednesday, just mention Longwood to have a portion of your bill donated to our PTA!

Our next big event will be the Winter Wonderland party, on January 24th, 2025. We expect trivia, games, and a silent auction. Save the date!

🚌 Longwood Walking Bus 🦁

Did you know that all Longwood students live within 1.5 miles of our school? As a neighborhood school, we do not have bus transportation for our students. However, we understand the challenges walking can pose for our students, especially in the winter months.

A walking bus is a group of students who walk to school together under the supervision of a trained route leader (volunteer or school employee). Walking busses walk along a designated route picking up students at their homes or intersections near their homes.
