Pasifika Language Weeks
This week has been one of colour, celebration, dance, art and music (not to mention an opportunity for great food!) as we mark Pasifika Languages Week. The children have been so engaged with the activities put together by our team (Anita Gillan, Dom Reed, Jeewan Cheema and Cassie Zhang) led by Deputy Principal Aone Laufili, and I would like to acknowledge their hard work putting this together.
See below for a few examples from the week to get a flavour of what's been happening!
NZ Music Month
Next week, we shift our focus to NZ Music Month with some music-themed activities for the children to enjoy, including a whole-school performance by Ukulele band 'The Nukes'!
Join The MENPS Board
It's Board election year, so if this is something you have ever considered or would like to learn more about, please click on the link below for useful information.
There are no pre-requisites (other than wanting to make a positive contribution to the school community), so all parents and caregivers are eligible to stand. If you would like to see the Board 'in action' at any point, School Board meetings are technically held 'in public', which means anyone is free to come along to one of our meetings as an observer at any time. Meetings are usually held in the MENPS staffroom at 6pm (with the next meeting coming up on Wednesday, May 21).
Lost Property
Please see below for important information about an upcoming 'clear-out' of our growing lost property collection. When we have cold, wet mornings followed by warmer afternoons, children can often tend to remove items and lose them more easily at break times, so it is very important to ensure all items are labelled/named so they can be returned!
Teacher Only Day Week 5 - Friday, May 30
As previously published, a reminder that in Week 5 this term, school will close for instruction for a Curriculum Day, as set by the government for all schools. The focus of this day continues work related to new curriculum materials, and takes place on the Friday before the King's Birthday long weekend. SKiDs will be available on the day if needed.
