Hanna Woods's Mission and Vision
Our Mission:
To ensure all students are capable, curious, caring, and confident learners who understand and respond to the challenges of an ever-changing world.
Our Vision:
We succeed when all members are leaders who demonstrate core values, problem-solve, and work to achieve our goals.
Schewe's Speech
Our students have been working hard to re-write our Hanna Woods pledge to make it match our new values. We would love our parents and guardians feedback on our pledge. Please read the four pledge proposals. Check the box under the pledge you would like to have used by our whole school community. Please check only ONE. Be sure your choice meets the requirements by including:
1. The name for each core value
2. A promise made for each core value
3. Our school's name
4. Simple sentences

Notes from the Strings Room
3rd Grade has started using the violin bow! I know that a lot of students had been counting down the lessons until we finally were able to use the bow! Violins are now starting to sound like violins! Students are learning the proper bow hold and starting to perform for each other during strings classes.
4th Grade is learning new skills and repertoire. Students are learning a new skill called sightreading on their instruments. Students focus on identifying and performing written music notation without labeling the notes. This has proven to be a new challenging skill. New repertoire includes the song "Go Tell Aunt Rhody." Hopefully students have started practicing at home regularly.
5th Grade is concentrating on a new piece of music called "Cabbage Countdown." This piece is a theme and variation based on the traditional folk song "Bile 'em Cabbage Down." Each week we are adding a new variation. Students are also learning a new skill called sightreading on their instruments. Students focus on identifying and performing written music notation without labeling the notes. This has proven to be a new challenging skill.
I really enjoy watching these students grow as more accomplished musicians each week.
