Another great week!
Hello Ross Community - It was another great week at Ross! To be honest, the 2nd and 3rd weeks of school are my personal favorite. Why you may ask? It is because the "newness" of school is still present. However, true instruction begins in all content areas. Mr. Bryant and myself have been in many classrooms this week and it has been amazing seeing students interact with a text, work in a small group, collaborate with their peers over a question being asked, beginning to get settled with routines and so much more. As I mentioned at Curriculum Night, we are implementing a new reading curriculum this year. One 5th grader came to me on Friday and said, "Mr. Cohee... we are learning about corn!" I was amazed at how excited a student was with learning about corn! However, this is due to the enthusiasm our teachers have about the content that they are teaching. Actually, there are some really awesome facts about corn. Did you know that corn stalks generate humidity? I had no idea! As an educator, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing your students excited about learning! Have a wonderful extended weekend and we will see you on Tuesday at 8:45 am.

Arriving late/Signing out early
Arrival: This is a reminder that you are to walk your child into the building and sign them in if you arrive after 9:05. It is a safety concern of ours as we want to ensure that your child is monitored at all times.
Signing out early: If you plan to sign out anytime after 3:00pm, I strongly encourage you to park your car in the parking lot, NOT the upper drive. Many families begin to arrive for dismissal at 3:15 and it is very likely you will get stuck/blocked if you park in the upper drive. If this occurs, it is very likely you will have to wait until all cars are off the lot at the end of dismissal (4:10ish).
Free and Reduced Lunch
At Curriculum Night, I mentioned the importance of completing the Free and Reduced Lunch form. It is important because it is what helps us qualify as a Title 1 School. Being a Title 1 school, we receive many additional resources, such as additional: Math and Reading support. It never hurts to complete the form. CLICK HERE to complete the Free and Reduced application. Plus, we want to make sure our families receive the necessary resources to alleviate any additional stress.
